Mushroom eats a hermit crab?

Yesterday I watched a 3" wide mushroom struggle for about 15 minutes to spit out a hermit crab shell, no crab in it. Is it possible that it ate the hermit crab?

If you have an elephant ear mushroom, hermits aren't all it'll eat. Fish are also in danger, if they perch.

I doubt it struggled much once it actually caught the crab. It was just digesting it with its mesenterial filaments, which takes a while

My hermits are a little smarter than that one was apparently. They won't go anywhere near my hairy mushroom, which is big enough to eat them.

WOW........i had no idea they would do this. I wish i could have seen it so i could have gotten my money's worth for that crab. lol
