Mushroom Trouble..

I have this mushroom rock of mine for over 2 years. It came with 3 mushrooms and over the time is has multiplied endlessly. It's been doing great for 2+ years. I went away for a few days and when I came back, they were all shrivled up. I travel quite a bit and I've never had a problem. Anyway, I have a 15 Gallon with a 10 gallon fuge. I've recently made some changes. I changed my bulb on my 96W Coralife fixture from the Coralife bulb to the SunPaq. The Sunpaq has a bit stronger actinic light (460nm compared to the 420nm), I also added the RowaSponge to help a bit with my phosphates. These shrooms used to be so big that you couldn't see any of the rock. Any idea what is going on? I'm thinking it may be the light. I added blue mushrooms last week as well and they're doing just fine. It's just my green shrooms.

it could be the light... is the new light that much brighter? id try moving them into a shady part of the tank for a couple days, and gradually move them back into the original spot.

The blue is a bit brighter, but the daylight seems the same. It's a 50/50 bulb with 10000K Daylight/460nm Blue. The old bulb was 10000K Daylight/420nm Blue.

Even the change from an old bulb to a new bulb, regardless of spectrum, would be enough to cause the change in mushrooms. When replacing bulbs, you might want to try the screen sheet method. Take a bunch of layers of screen door material and stack them over the tank. And each day remove a sheet. This will gradually acclimate the corals to the higher intensity light.

Would it also help to decrease the amount of time the light was on and then gradually bring it back up to normal?
