I received a mushroom pack from liveaquaria.com. One of the mushrooms was not attached to a rock. We tried to attached it with fishing line but a couple of hours later it came off. It is just floating wherever in the tank. I called the company and they said that this happens. Is there anything else that we can do?

Not until you are trying to figure out how to get the mushrooms OUT of your tank. They will spread like crazy and are indestructible.

what do you mean? he bought the mushrooms why would he want them out??

As for attaching the mushroom you can put rubble in a shot glass and set the mushroom in on top of it. and place it at the bottom of the tank.will attach shortly

after it attaches itself to the rubble you can epoxy, superglue or just place it where ever you like, hope it works out for ya

What he/she means is that mushrooms spread like crazy. Buy a few and with good light next year your tank is over grown with them.

This is our first saltwater tank and I think that we are going to enjoy watching these mushrooms. We are still at the point where we are sitting in a chair in front of the tank.

PVC

PVC

Cut a peice of PVC pipe about one inch long. Use a diameter a littlle bigger than the mushroom. Just set the pipe on the rock you want it to attach too. Then put the mushroom in the pipe and wait a few weeks. This keeps the currant from blowing it around and lets light shine on it.

warner I don't think people in this hobby ever get pass that point lol, that is my favorite part enjoying what you have created,I can sit there for hours

Super glue will not work on mushrooms(discoma, rhodactis or ricordea). they simply slime it off.the shot glass or bowl technique with rubble will work. Give it a week or two.Alternatively, you can put the mushroom on a rock and cover it with some bridal mesh cloth or soft screening cloth and wait a week or two. Mushroom anemonies are bautiful animals. They do spread but can be cut off with a razor and allowed to reattach to rubble.
