Mushrooms, brown jelly disease

I just had a colony of seemingly healthy mushrooms pretty much wiped out overnight. The colony would be okay by day, but after the lights went out, the surviving colonies would simply turn to brown mush. I imagine that this is the dreaded brown-jelly disease.

Anyone know what causes it? Why the decay into mush only seems to happen at night?

No I believe that what you're referring to is zooxanthelae (<-- Sp?) which is different than brown jelly. Your rics should recover provided that you don't have anything in your tank that is out of wack.
