mushrooms in the dark

i know they are a low light coral, but i just cleaned my hob filter that i use for carbon and found a couple of red mushrooms growing inside. now, this is a black box with a black cover so no light gets in, yet they grow anyway. go figure

found my blue mushroom i lost 4 weeks ago in my canister filter
he was very happy in there and larger then wen i lost him ????????????
