Mushrooms Lost Color

My mushrooms were purple when I bought them. Now they are a nondescript brown. What happened? Can the color be brought back?

what kind of lights do you have and how long are they on for?

Sounds like a lighting issue to me as well. Also where are they placed in your tank? Very low in the tank or closer to the top? From my experience yes the color can be reestablished once proper lighting requirements are met.

I have t5 HO without individual reflectors. The bulbs are 7 months old. Running 2 x 12k, 1 x 75.25 from UVL and 1 x actinic from Gieseman. They are at the bottom of the tank. Main lights were only on for 6 hours a day. I just increased that to 7.

i would guess most likely its too much light. I had a red mushroom turn brown then i moved it under a shade and it colored back up in a few months
