Hello

I am looking for very good books to add to my collection.

What are must have books for reefers? Fishes, inverts, corals, etc…

Thank you.

Well for fish and inverts I would go w/ the pocket expert guide to marine fishes and marine inverts. 500+ pages/ea and great pics and info on many different species!

one book that I know of is "From Begginer to Breeder". I can't remember the authors name, but I think it is a great book. If you
purchase this book, buy the newest edition, I believe it is volume two.

IMO ....

For fishes, Scott Michael's Reef Fishes series, else one of his pocket guides. I've found his advice dependable + tank sizing realistic.

If beginning, I liked Tullocks Natural Reef Aquariums ... otherwise for `general' books the newest Sprung/Delbeek `The Reef Aquarium' Vol 3 sure looks good [I have 1 + 2].

Coral-wise, I still defer to Eric Borneman's Aquarium Corals book ... those little guide books just lack so much important information and gloss over differences among Genus/etc.

JMO ... I'd strongly encourage books, as they'll easily save you their cost through avoiding problem livestock.

The New Marine Aquarium by Michael Paletta is a good book.
Last year I was fortunate to go to a seminar hosted by MAST. The speaker was none other than Michael Paletta. This guy really knows his stuff. There was not a single question asked that he didn't know the answer to.

Also I recommend The Conscientious Marine Aquarist by Robert M Fenner.

I second both of the pocket expert guide books. Marine fishes and Marine inverts are in depth. I am just starting and both of these book allowed me to compile my master wish list to work from. These books will eliminate the possibility of putting unrealistic fish or inverts your tank.
Any book by Mike Paletta is also well worth the read.

Anthony Calfo just wrote an article in his new Mag Journal promoting the Sprung/Delbeek "The Reef Aquarium" Vol 3 that MiddletonMark suggested. It is the first time that Calfo has ever written a reveiw of a book. I just ordered it from Amazon tonight.

I also have Paletta and Fenner's books as well.... both excellent books, but neither go into much about specialized equipment like Ca Reactors, UV, Ozone use or Skimmers in any depth. But both are excellent books to learn the chemistry and general set-up and stocking.
