LOL. Well this is gonna sound rude but why? I have always been on a quest in this hobby to get bigger and bigger tanks, and just can't imagine having to manage a 10 gallon salty tank.

Haha not rude. I just have to have a smaller tank at my mom's because there is barely any room in this house .

Ah Ok. I understand the space issue. I saw your sig that said 60 gal DT, and was just curious why you would then upgrade to a 10g. I hope it works out well for you. I've got a 10 gallon freshwater tank that is a huge PITA to keep topped off daily due to evap. Doesn't mean much in a FW tank, but those salinity swings in a salty tank, I just couldn't keep up with it. I have seen some gorgeous nano tanks, but I just don't have the time or patience that would be required to keep one that small.

Edit: lol. Me and my fiance moved across the state a couple years ago, and we moved in with her grandma temporarily. Her gm ended up having surgery and needed help around the house, and didn't want us to leave so we decided to stay with her. My fiance was going back to school, and she needed help doing things she couldn't so it just made sense over all. Anyways, her gm had never had a fish tank. I put up a 10 gallon FW tank in the living room and she loved it. Fast forward to today, and about 8 tanks later, have a 125 saltwater tank in the living room now and the grandma loves it. She sits in the recliner in front of the tank all day and is just mesmerized by it. She does get mad when a coral retracts and she can't figure out why. She will then ask me if I moved something in the tank because the coral she saw yesterday doesn't look the same as it does today. She still calls them plants but I'm working on it,lol.

Yea my 60 gal is at my dad's house which has more space. I have the old jbj ato from the 60 and using it here so I don't have to top off daily.

For livestock I will probably get a shrimp/goby combo. Any coral reccomendations for coral that looks especially nice in a small tank?

I love my Neon Green torch, it adds movement, but only if you have good water movement. I have an RW4.
With little flow I really like the Papaya clove polyps in my tank and blastos. Both are hardy. in case of parameter swings.

Thanks for the reccomendations, there should be a lot of flow with that Rio pump and I already have a green torch in my 60 so I can just frag it and put it in the 10.

So I heard if I take the sponge from the main tank and put it into another tank, it is an instant cycle. Is this true?

That would only be true if you were doing a barren tank for say a QT or Hospital tank. Since you have sand and rock (unless from your cycled large tank) it would still have to cycle the sand and rock. But if that rock and sand were cycled then you are fine and good to go. What are the parameters of it now?

Haven't checked yet but the sand is new and the rock is from DT.

Tank cleared up this morn. Found a bristle worm go into the sand and a feather duster, not sure if they will make the cycle though. Also , I need to redo the rock.

The HOB for my 10 gallon always gives off bubbles, haven't tried stopping them. How much rock is that, doesn't look like much.
