My 10 gallon xenia forest

I have been noticing something rather odd. There is one small xenia which seems unfazed by the move, while the rest are rather bleached in appearance. (Don't worry, recovering fine) Most are white and hardly pulsing, yet this one is dark and pulsing rapidly. They all come from the same mother colony, and this one behaves differently from the rest.

This is odd to me. This is a complete guess, but perhaps this small coral has adopted a different clade of Zooxanthellae than the rest? I am really clueless as to how such a thing can occur.

just thought id throw in a few pics of my xenia and zoanthid dominated tank. the first two pics were taken about 6-7 mos ago rite when i switched from 120w of pc lighting to a 150w MH sunpod w/ 40w actinic pc lighting on the tank. Please keep in mind I pruned about 30 heads of xenia about 4 months ago and another 20 about 1 month ago.

I LOVE the xenias on the glass...pretty soon it will be covered...I saw a tank once the back glass was totally covered and it was super stunning! I wish mine would do that...they pretty much have stayed put so far...we'll see.....

So uh, my clownfish bites now. She has built a nest under that rock and whenever I put my hand in the tank she displays extremely aggressive behavior and bites me. She is quite fierce and startles me at times. It is pretty funny.

Ok, so I think people are interested in my air lift frag tank I showed earlier, so I have some pictures. I know at least some people are interested since I got PMs about it...

Please ignore the brown slime, new tank syndrome, plus I had my fish in there for a while when I was home over break.

Also, I don't think people realize just how bright these lights are... To take the pictures I do, I need to turn my shutter speed way way up. For reference, here is the frag tank next to my tank lit with t5s at the shutter speed which I take pictures of my xenia tanks with. No, not just actinics, that's roughly 14,000k equivalent in t5s...

And who doesn't like videos:

So I got another clownfish. The old one doesn't seem to like the new one so much, I hope it doesn't get killed. D:

It's been a while since I posted anything here. I have been in California for the past few months and my tanks have taken a small hit under my dad's care. I will try to get them cleaned up and have some pictures soon.

I used to have way to many Xenias....
I only bought 1 stag 1 yr ago..and it became a war = =

And finally took 2 whole walls of Xenias out

what was your parameters like during the xenia war? Salinity and Alk? TIA

The Salinity and Alk has been stable
Salinity ~1.024
Alk 7~10
Is hard to keep the Alk actually, they absorb the Alk so fast, I have to dose everyday to keep it above 8.0
I think they like fish poop? I have lotz of fish in my tank 0.0

yes you do but how often you change your water and by how much? Do you run skimmer or carbon or GFO?

the way I look at it, as long as the fishes get along and healthy, it's fine.....and no I don't really want to get into that bioload debate.
