My 10G "build"! pics incl.

I'm hoping to try my hand at making an acrylic sump in the next few days. It will be about 5G in the end. I need to figure that design out.... I may be lazy and just make a simple box..

The tank came as you see it from SuperPet for 10$..... SuperPet being a Canadian equivalent of Petco. I like it just because it was a litle taller than most of the long 10's. Right now I have sort of a "rock wall" and would rather have more height and make a single rock "tower" type thing in the middle. Maybe next time.

I went nano because i'm travelling a lot as a student, and when I move back home or wherever i'm working for the summer the tank has to come with me. I'm able to just strap some styrafoam on top and carry the whole thing.

I think i'll need to dump this tank onto somebody for this summer... just as it is getting going. I'm weary about buying too much livestock for it now....

I had one of those flame scallops in my tank for a little over a year, this was in a 55 gallon that I didnt skim. It didnt starve in fact it actually grew and I never fed him intentionally. So I think if your actually feeding it you should be fine. Also If he attaches pull it really slow or you could kill him.

Nice tank btw, I love the zoo's, great color.

put some current in the feediing bucket if you want proper feeding to take place

Thanks, I do already.

Oh yeah, I forgot to say that when it comes to ethics with the scallops. Odds are you're going to give it a better chance to survive than the store. Anyway, great looking tank once again. BTW, what is your major? I grad. as a math major last semester, but I have to say that I think my true passion is in reefing. ;)

Thanks again Kaserpick....

I'm an undergrad geography major and minor in biology. The reefing sort of ties in with my interests, i'm still trying to connect your math and reefing though!

I'm really enjoying this stuff too.... It's too bad that it's so expensive, at least around where I am. I suppose if it were too cheap the quality might suffer.

I just spent an hour or two putting some trim around my tank. This finished with me spilling wood stain on a nice pair of jeans and a good shirt..... good times.

Thanks Ash... haha.

Right now I have a Canon PowerShot Pro1, 8.0 MP. It's a great camera but I'm thinking I want to get something a little more serious. I'm trying to find a good deal on something, really the only way I can justify spending the money right now.

I'm lurking around eBay, but i'm not sure how I feel about making a big purchase there.

Are there many reef stores our your way?

yeah eBay makes you a bit sceptical sometimes especially on higher priced items im too wary aswell. Ive got a canon powershot A85 just dont no how to work it turn it on flick the switch and shoot.

No theres only three stores here and there not big ones either there all about 5 to 6m2 in size so theres not much as things tend to get cherry picked before they make there way up to the north.

I don't know how I tied math with reefing either...haha. Oh well. If only I find a job dealing statistics and reefs... :)

got any FTS's?

-On the way.. After I fix everything my black spiny urchin messed up. Usually he's trapped behind the rocks... but um, he gt out. The urchin is going to a store once I find one that will take him. Anyone want him?

Also tomorrow I'll hopefully get out to some decent stores and get something new.

There has to be a way to bring reefing and stats together... Start some "poll" threads, hah.. It's a start..

:) Thanks. It was my only "souvenir" from there. The only one I remembered to bring home anyways...
The only reason I remember is I lived there for a year and had to dang work during the day. what a bummer huh.
