I had this problem with my aquapod shortly after it cycled and I just put a paper towel on top of the water for a few seconds to get rid of the film and it worked like magic. I haven't had a problem with film since. Also, try to make sure that one of your return nozzles is aimed so that the water on the top of the tank is included in the current as well.
Both of those worked for me...
