My 125 gallon TBS aquarium

This is my fist post. I am attempting to post some pictures of my 125. It is built into a wall that separates my basement family room from a crawl space. The tank sits on the cinderblock foundation wall. The tank can be accessed from the top in the front via a hinged hood or from the crawlspace by sliding the hood forward.

Working with Richard has been a treat. Hopefully this post works.

Here is the full wall:

I'm new here. I have no idea why my Refugium picture (the ugliest I might add) turned out so big while the others turned out so small?????

Your tank is gorgeous! I see you have your refugium set up on a reverse photo cycle. Does that mean when your lights are out in the tank the refugium lights are on and vice versa?

Loving the big LR rock especially the left center pic with the deep purple coloration.... Looks like another job well done by RICHARD the GREAT....

Awesome!

Awesome!

What an incredible build!

They way you shadow boxed that into the wall is too cool.

The shell display really sets it off. You did a heck of a job, snowstorm and all, was that really 3 foot of snow in your backyard?

Shipping rock to MSP in the dead of winter...you did a great job!

I think you are candidate for #1 spot on web page!

divemonster - thanks. I think the tank looks good too. I use a Coralife Aqualight Power Center. I have two IceCap 660s, one powering two actinics, the other powering 4 6700K Ultra Daylights (and two 5 LED blue moon lights) on the main tank and 96watt 6700K PC on the refugium. So when the the actinics turn on at 9am, the PC on the refugium and main tank moonlights turn off, then the daylights turn on at 10 am, off at 8 pm and at 9pm the actinics turn off and refugium and blue LED moonlights on the main tank turn on. I think the tank actually looks the cooles under the 10 blue LED moonlights. I haven't tried pictures of a night shot yet (I have a crappy camera - but it was free).

SpiderCrab2. I was shocked with the bick rock. My part one was 200 pounds (I ordered the package for a larger tank than my 125 as I wanted a lot of rock) and just 5 rocks. I was expecting 10 to 12 rocks, not 5. But it grew on me and for part 2 I asked Richard for (and recieved) 4 large rocks and a bunch of little rocks for my fuge.

Richard - it was closer a little over two feet of snow in the backyard. Whe had a warm spell last week and much of it melted - we're down to 6 inches.

I was hesitant about ordering live rock to be shipped to MN in winter, but Richard said it wouldn't be a problem. I wanted the tank set up for Christmas as we were hosting and an empty tank wouldn't exactly 'wow' anyone. Part 1 was picked up at the airport it was 13 degrees outside. The rock when I got home was at 68 - without heatpacks. Part 2 came on a nice balmy 30 degree day, but the rock was actually colder at 65 degrees. But I had minium die off, Total ammonia for either part never got above .25 ppm and free ammonia never got above .1ppm. So much for needing my 4 32 gallon rubbermaid trashcans of saltwater for water changes.

Any snow is too much for me!

Was 40 degrees here this am....WAY to cold!

You had a real easy cycle as about 99% of large tanks do with my rock, but your were 'ready' if you did have to make water changes and that is very important to have the ammunition, if you need it.

We are going to have really bad weather for the next 10 days it looks like, according to NOAA, so the water will drop in temp some more.

Water was 62 last week when I dove.....and I have seen it get as low as 51 in the dead of winter here.

When I ship rock on direct flights like yours, even if it is below zero on your end, I use no heat packs, as the water in the shop stays about 70 degrees, and live rock likes to travel cold, as the dissolved 02 stays in the water much better than warm water....and the rock is tough, will take temp swings from 51 to 91...as in the summer time the water gets really hot here!

40 degrees is way too cold? :)

It was -4 hear this morning, so I did wear my spring/fall jacket. I don't break out my winter jacket and gloves until it hits -10 or colder.

Of course I sit in a heated office all day, I'm not out diving in this. I don't mind cold, but cold and wet do not mix. I wouldn't want to dive in your current weather conditions either.

Yea we are having our annual couple weeks of winter weather, in a couple of months we will all be complaining of the heat again...

I put four years in living in Auburn Maine, back in the early 80's.....25 below zero for two weeks straight...I moved back home...
