It has been almost 10 years since I have had a tank of my own. But the itch has never left. Now that I am out of college and have a few years of working under my belt, its time to return to the hobby I have missed so much. I have spent this time away browsing all the great looking tanks and hope to recreate one of my own.
The tank will be a custom Miracles rimless tank utilizing the Zeovit system. It will be a SPS dominant tank with a light to medium fish load. Derek at Miracles has been a pleasure to work with. Has been very patient and answered all my questions.
Tank
Miracles 48x28x24 low iron glass front and side, ~140 gallons
Sump/ATO/Stand
Miracles will also be constructing the stand, sump, and ato. I really liked the way "A Reef in the Sky" designed the sump so Im going to use that sump design for my own system.
Here is my poorly drawn design of my stand and equipment. I plan on using a electronics panel where the left door opens to keep it separate from the sump and ato. I will also use a wire hiding system to keep it looking clean.
Equipment
Lighting: ATI 8c54w SunPower
Skimmer: JNS U-2
Zeovit Reactor: Vertex 3L
Control: Apex Gold Package
RO/DI: SpectraPure 180GPD
Return: Eheim 1262Flow: (3) MP40QDs
Topoff: Tunze 3155
Dosing: Vertex Libra (Stepper Motor)
I still need to buy some minor things, heaters, rock, dosing containers, and maybe more sand. The one thing I have to figure out is where to put my libra dosing unit. I was thinking of asking Miracles to build a shelf in the stand opposite of the electronics panel or put it in the panel itself if I have room.
What do you guys/gals think so far? Any ideas for the doser or maybe something I missed out on? I still have time to change the design of the stand, sump, and ATO.
