My 150g build thread

LOL... Thanks for the post. No I never did get the algae problem resolved. I think it may have been from the sand. You can put me down as a supporter of Arganite reef sand. Lesson learned. This tank is offically dead and pretty much sold. So far the pumps, tank and light are all sale pending.

I am taking a break from reefing for the summer. My surviving live stock has been sent to a friends house. If I do set up another tank it will be in the fall and it will be something smaller like a 40g breeder. I think for that tank I'll want to go with something like a clown / Nem tank. Maybe a few corals in it but mostly just clowns and Nems.

Take care and thank you all for following along! It was a great journey and lessons learned.

Wow I read the whole thread right now and I just learned you quit! Why? The algae got too bad? You spent so much time and money to quit 6 months later :(

The algae problem is part of it. What isn't mentioned is a major ice storm hit the North East a month or so ago. We lost power sometime during the night, my guess would be right after I went to sleep. I woke up and the tank had dropped to 68, only 2 fish survived... my clowns.

The other issue was the mosture in the house. This was a major problem. Even after I bought a dehumidifer (which ran 24x7) I was finding mold and mildew in corners of the house. This was a major lesson learned.

Mr. Roo, I have not quit my friend... no sir. I'm taking some time off for the summer to enjoy my Harley and come fall.. I have a 40g breeder sitting in the sump room ready to go. I've already started to visualize how I want to drill it... build the over flow... what pieces of live rock i'm going to use.... New build thread my friend.... a new thread indeed =)

This is not good bye... no... its a See you soon....

Take care all and thank you for your support.
