my 20L project(pics).

You really don't wany either hermits or turbo snails in your tank IMO. You can find that out for yourself though i guess. Margarita snails do a much better job and produce less waste, and 1 Zebra turbo will mow the lawn like you won't believe. They are the black and white striped ones that get huge. Only get a small one though. They only come out at night, and they have a huge appetite. The hermits are just unruley and kill your snails and each other faster then you can replace them. The margarita snails are usually around $2 each and they last way better than turbos or astea snails. They will even clean about a half inch or so below the sand level on the glass.

Never mind just went back and read the first post. I would say 10 Margaritas and 5 Naussarrius, 1 zebra and 2 emerald crabs. If you just have to have some hermits, get like 3 small red legs. The blue and green leg hermits are just little killers lol. they will kill each other faster thaen you can buy them. When the red legs get bigger they will kill snails for shells if you don't put plenty of shells in there for them to grow in to. The shells tend to collect debris and cause nitrate issues though.

I would personally stay away from emerald crabs. When they get bigger they will try to clip at fish(witnessed this, ours now lives in the sump) and possibly pick at coral. They are fantastic bulldozers, so if you have frags they will certainly make sure they end up in the sandbed face down.

Nassarius I wouldnt do more than 3-4 in a 20L. I keep 2 in the sump(a 20) and 7-8 in a 90 display. Recently as the tank has matured we've been losing nassarius due to crabs wanting their shells or just malnutrition. They don't eat true detrius they are omnivores and will eat food or meat. As far as I've seen they will avoid fish poop.

I've never had any issues with my emerald crabs. As far as Nassaurrius snails go, they are great at cleaning up any un eaten food that makes it to the rocks and sand bed. I have about 20 in my 90g and 6 or 8 in my 30g. Mine breed like flies, but i don't have crabs eating them for thier shells either. Turbo snails crap twice for every bite they take and make a bigger mess then they clean up. I use a foxface for algae control along with regular water changes, and stong current. I have about 2400gph actual flow in my 90g, and around 800gph in my 30g. A midget with a small kayak would have a blast in my 90g lol. Fish poop is taken care of by the sandbed and the skimmer. The margarita snails will clean both the glass and the rocks, and i have never noticed thier poop all over the place like a turbo does. Not to mention how clumbsy turbos are about falling upside down and dieing. A large turbo dieing because he fell can cause algae outbreaks all by it's self. The only issue i ever have with my Margarita snails is that they like to go in the overflow, but they come back out and never had one hung up in the drain or show up in the sump. Asteas on the other hand, i have had clog the drain and cause a flood before. I only have one of those left in the display in my 30g, and a billion baby ones in the sump lol. The zebra turbo runs for cover at the first sign of light and stays put until the lights go out, but you can tell where he mowed the next morning for sure. He doen't poop twice per bite like a normal tubo either. They are always in the same spot every morning like clockwork in both tanks.
