My 24G AP

Hey all......just joined RC today, although I've been lurking for quite some time:D . Just figured I'd drop a few pics of my 6 mos old 24G AP. The set up is 70W MH with an aqua C remora skimmer on back. I've actually just recently had some issues with nitrates (yesterday) so I removed the blue sponges in the back and did a 50% water change. Any of you pro's have any suggestions on what i can put in that back right chamber? I have my heater and sump in the left chamber. In any case here's a few pics!

Nice Tank. I have the same tank, but with the regular lighting. I use carbon in a bag and phosphate remover in another bag. I place them in the back chamber. I read, earlier here on RC to remove the blue sponge and bioballs because they can cause trouble. My tank is still young. I have had it up and running every since July. My corals are ding fine, but I have noticed in the past 3-4 weeks alot of algae growth. I'm still researching what to do on this.

Thanks....I actually had an algae problem myself about the 4th month in and I bought snails and that did the trick. But my algae growth was hair algae. Not sure what type yours is :)

Your setup looks great. I also have the same tank and was wondering the performance of the remora?

I run a simple setup with no skimmers. In the rear chamber I put in purigen, chemipure, lr rubble, and filter floss. Weekly 20% water changes.

I've been considering buying your same setup.. was wondering if you know anyone who as had much luck with SPS with that lighting..

The Remora works wonders...have to change cup out weekly but between that and the LR no issues. The brown fuzzy thing in the back is a christmas tree coral. Bottom left is my BTA...middle is green star polyp...brain coral...and my orange polyp...just added 2 new pieces today to fill in the back rofl..../sigh such an addicting habit. I have it stocked with like 6 fish but I do bi-weekly waterchanges 20% also and havent had any issues. /crosses fingers!!

hey MO:
I live here in Birmingham too. Where do you get your fish and corals? Also, have you seen the Alabama Reefers section of this forum. They are great people. Paulb.

If you want to do SPS in the 24 AP, get the one with the 150w hqi
