Hey everyone, I've been reading alot of the threads here for awhile and finally got some live rock into my tank so I have afew pictures to share. Im extremely excited to have it at this stage so far. Back @ X-mas time I received a NC 12 from my parents, and apon opening it they decided they would rather get me a 24g (great for me). Unfortunalty the dealer we got the 12 from didnt have any 24's instock until earlier this week.

So now, here it is. Just afew quick pictures I took of the Aquascaping. I have to add alittle more water, but im pretty happy with how it turned out. It was my third attempt of the night and seemed to be the charm.

Anyways on to the good stuff.

Thats it for now, but I'm sure to be taking more pics as I go along. As of now I've seen two hitchhickers. One's a blue leg hermit crab and the other is a snail.... lol.. of which im not sure. And i did notice an evil looking creature at the bottom of my box when all was said and done that looked (with my lack of experience) to be a Mantis Shrimp. Might have dodged a bullet there.

I upgraded the pump to a Maxi-jet 1200 (thanks Colin) and have the heater in the same compartment. I've got all the stock filter media in there now(minus the bio-balls), for cycling, but will be using filter floss in the future and investiagting some other things.

Please let me know what you think, good or bad. If you see potential problems/concearns im all for hearing about it.

Thanks,
Matt

Looks great so far,.just make sure theres room to get between the rocks and the glass for cleaning.
You may want to remove a little sand, thats just my preference though.

Great aquascaping. Ditto on the rock from the glass, I have some spots now that are a pain to clean but other than that it looks really good.

I had the same uneven look with the sand but mine evened out after a little bit and looks good. How many pounds of sand?

Yea, I used my scraper as I went along to measure between the rocks and it fits. Its close in some areas but overall I think it should be ok.

The sand is 40lbs. I just added the whole bag and decided It would be easier to take it out later if i didnt like it. I might attempt to rescape the right hand side abit in the next week or so. Im abit worried that its a little unstable, and that it blocks too much of the view to the inside. There is a nice little opening in the middle with a good amount of sand bed exposed that i think would look pretty nice if it was viewable. Ah well, i see how this is going to be an ongoing adjustment lol.

Thanks for the comments so far.

Matt

looks good so far. and yeah 40 pounds might be a little too much for that tank. but it's your personal preferance.
good luck.

If your rock is sitting on top of the sand and you get some sort of sand sifter your rock may shift or collapse. I like the rock work and don't think you have too much rock.
