first off, WELCOME!!!!!!!! second, the tank. sounds like a good setup, but i'm curious as to why the skimmer and pump are only on in they day. i'm assuming you leave the penguin filter on at night to help with water circulation? also, remove the tang, they are beautiful, and i understand why you would want to keep them, but that fish is gonna get WAYYYYYYYYYYY to big for that tank. i wouldn't put a tang in anything less then a 55g, but even better is a 75g. other than that, sounds like a neat setup. just so you know, mushrooms can spread like crazy and over run tanks. i'm not sure about hairy mushrooms, but just keep a watchful eye on them. :)

The ocean doesn't stop at night ;) I'd leave the pump on 24/7. You want as much oxygenation as you can get during the night.

I agree, chevrons are small (for tangs) but still too big for a 29g.

Can we see a picture of the setup? You'll get loads more opionions with pics.
