My 29G tank will be an F/O tank for a while..

Hello guys,

My new 29G tank will be a "Fish only" tank for a while because I don't have a good lighting system and a protein skimmer also. So, we got a percular clown today from Petco.

Do you have any fish recommendation for 29G F/O tank?

I think I would look at some fish like bicolor blennies, firefish, neon gobies, various shrimp gobies or things around that size. There are some wrasses (a six line should fit) and other gobies that could be really nice in there as well. You might get away with an anemone and clowns if you want, but I don't think it would technically be a "fish-only" tank. Whatever you decide to do, make sure you read up on the fish behavior and not just the minimum size requirements for the tank. There are a few fish out there that don't really need that much space, but can become quite aggressive when space becomes limited. The neon dottyback is one of them. They are neat fish, but they can get pretty mean under the right circumstances. (I know from experience- ours OWNS the cave in the center of the tank.) Also- make sure you know how big the fish will get as it matures. Angels in particular can catch your eye with crazy colors as juveniles, but can grow up to be HUGE! Just make sure you do your research and plan it out to ensure you don't add one fish that makes it impossible to own another one that you really wanted and you should be just fine!

ALSO- (sorry for the double post!) If you want to keep an anemone you will need a good lighting system. From most of the things that you can read on wetwebmedia.com they suggest metal halide for most anemones. I've never had an anemone- they seem to finicky to me. I've read that they will just decide to migrate around the tank if they aren't happy and sting anything they come into contact with in the process. We have too much stuff in our aquarium to risk an unhappy anemone fowling everything up!

Oh, Thanks to revive this post. It's not a "Fish-only" tank already. My wife wanted to get some snails. So, we are getting a clown and some snails so far(a Fish and snails tank).

We got some macro algae together with snails. Does anybody know how to deal with macro algaes? One looks like a small tree having many branches and the other one is just a seeweed (Ulva?)

Trigger fish... I tried to find a korean name for trigger fish. Surprisingly, Now I'm eating a piece of dried and baked trigger fish.
