So I know there's no rock in there...I'm waiting for params to stabilize before I move everything from my 55g to this one. In a few weeks I'll start moving a cup of sand a day until all 80lbs are moved from the 55. Then the 80# of LR will move, followed by the livestock.

gonna be really nice, i was under the impression you could move your live rock and some sand and your water from your 55 and start right up, i only ask cause soon im gonna upgrade and the new tank will be in the wall right where the old tank is so i was hoping for a smooth transition. i really like the way you have flow from the back, have you turned off your power and see what happens, i really like that and would like to incorporate somthing like that on my new set up, any input would be appreciated.

What do you mean turn off my power and see what happens? Depending on what you've got in the 135 and how big you go, you may be able to move right on over...I'm more than tripling my tank size; it seems that if you want to get the right amounts of things, a cycle is unavoidable...because of that, I'm taking it slowly...having two tanks up isn't hurting anything. I thought starting up with ro/di I'd skip most of the cycle, I'll know in a few weeks (hopefully) whether it saved me much time. I know most of the silicates and other nasty stuff should have been taken out.

Looking good so far, doesnt look like you should have any flow problems lol. Did you make your sump?

Anyone care to share their reasons? I'm looking at going LPS/Softy mixed. I think I'm going to have to tone down the flow a little bit, any suggestions for rock formations?

I voted mixed. The reason.... I like a tank that has a little diversity.. Not just one type of coral. I tried the one type thing with zoa's. Cool looking tank but I just wasnt happy. Started with 1 sps then 3 and 6.... now im looking into lps!! lol

Coral selection is entirely up to you.

I would say (if you made your stand) next time you cut out the door openings on the paneling, use a new, fine (at least 15 TPI) blade. Doesn't hurt to use a straight edge guide clamped to the piece you're cutting. Not criticism, I'm sure it's hidden by the doors, just a tip.

I didn't make the stand; I definitely wouldn't have picked that color. When I move, I'll rebuild the stand properly, with doors that are square and springed hinges will hold them snug and closed.

i meant by turning off your power to recreate a poweroutage, i really like your design but was wondering if your sump would flood it there was a outage or a pump fails, thanx
