After taking a few years off traveling for my job I have finally settled in, bought a new home and got another reef tank! My tank is A 300 gallon starfire front 72x31x31 with corner overflows custom built out of New Jersey. I have a custom lifereef sump with three built-in reactors along with a custom 6 foot tall lifereef skimmer, also running an MRC dual commercial calcium reactor. For lighting I have 3x400 watt XM 20K run on blueline ballasts, I also have two 6 foot VHO super actinic's on PFO ballasts and some blue LED moon lights. I have a DIY auto-top off system , For water movement I run two vortech MP40's along with 4 tunze 6095's on a tunze multi-controller. My system is controlled with the aquacontroller II. The pictures are from the day I bought everything, moved it all into my house until now, which took around a month and a half, so the tank is still VERY young. Any questions feel free to ask and thanks for viewing!!

The madness starts

And the finished product, please excuse the fact ive only painted the tank walls; I think it looks very odd with the white walls around it. Any suggestions if I should paint my whole basement that color or another color would be awesome!!

Everything came out great! Nice job. As for the color of the walls, now of course this is only my opinion but I don't think that red looks very good with your wood work. If it was me I would go with a more neutral tone for the walls, perhaps a tan or something. I think it would contrast nicely with the darker stained woodwork. Hope this helps :)

Please tell us about the cabinet work on the front of your tank. It looks really well done.

Thx,

Thanks everyone, from start to finish it took about a month and a half, i did as much as i can when i got home from work everynight , but getting home from work at 5 then after going to the gym time runs out quickly!!

Thanks Dave,

The cabinet work was actually custom made for the tank on another wall. When i bought the setup the cabinet work didnt fit were i was putting the tank in my house so My father and I cut it all up and re-worked it as to fit the dimensions i needed. Its all made from solid mahogany wood. Ill have to get more detailed pictures of the moldings used.

Nice Job! Love the aquascape. This tank is going to look phenomenal grown out!

Wow that's a great looking tank and setup.....I would paint the walls a color that makes that custom cabinetry really pop like something lighter then the cherry finish.....

Nice tank I like how the tank was running and then the walls were built around it haha. Very nicely done

Yes, i kind of went at it backwards, however i didnt mind doing it this way since i had everything planned out ( for the most part);)
