My 300g system!

it got better since I've been running NPX bio beads in a vertex ZF-30, bought a new skimmer ( octopus cone XP-5000) new RODI , change my whole live rock etc etc

my question to you guys, anything else I can do?

all my tests are reading zero nitrate and zero phosphate

oh, i also remove all that live rock i nthe photo thinking i had a nitrate factory at the bottom of my sump

check your phosphate levels. I think you may have jumped the gun pulling out all of your live rock. Couple things you can do - stay diligent and patient. Manually pull out all of the hair algae you can get to DAILY. Get some phosphate absorbing media and put in your sump. Worked for me. Took about a month to get under control but didn't have to boil my rocks or do anything drastic. Keep after it, do lots of water changes, get your phosphates under control and you should be ok. Another option is to get some other "more desirable" macro algae that will starve out the hair. Good luck. Hair algae is never fun.

About that live rock, i just removed it 2 days ago. I also removed my 75g Fuge, but hair algea took control of that area too. I was at 400g till 2 days ago. my next move is to check my mag, and try to get the best amount of mag for my tank, to help kil lthat hair algea!

Your nitrate and phosphate readings are probably testing at 0 because the algae macro and micro are removing. Having pulled out the rock in you sump and if you don't have a filter sock on the water line to the sump then you probably noticed a lot of detritus in the sump on the rocks. If this is the case put a filter sock in the sump and let the incoming water flow into that. You will need to clean when it clogs which it will in time. I have three on hand and one in use in the sump at all times. If you have a lot of detritus in the sump you need to pull that out. Easiest way is to take a small pump, put a short hose on it and using a filter sock run the intake part of the pump along the bottom of the sump pumping the gunk into the filter sock through the hose. When done take filter sock out and clean. Once you do this and with a filter sock on your inflow line you shouldn't have a detritus build up in the sump. You should also see your nitrate/phosphate levels drop too by having less micro algae growth. Make sure you use a good test kit and one that is not old. I see your sand/rock bed is kind of thick. This also should be vacuumed occasionaly. I use a tank vacuum and again have the water drain into a filter sock I attach inside the sump until I'm done. If you have never done this just do a small portion at a time in case you have a large amount of toxins built up within the bed as you don't want to release all at once.

wow good advices thanx!

humm I've already installed those filter socks! they get dirty real quick!
when I cleaned my sump, i did a nice clean up, removed every dirt i could possibly see :)

now what i gotta do is clean the sand bed with a vac!

thanx again bud!

ps: raising my mag to 1300-1400 ppm will it help tho?
