INTRODUCTION

Hello, and welcome to my mostly FOWLR Build thread, there will be some corals in the tank, but not a ton. I was able to procure my tank from a phenomenal deal on Craigslist, and it just happened my wife and I were in the process of renovating the dining room. Originally I had planned to put my existing 90 gallon into the wall, and frame in a 300 gallon tank, but when this deal came up, I couldn't pass it up!!

So here is an abbreviated list of equipment:

TANK/STAND:
335G Acrylic Tank (67"L x 35"W x 33"T)
Wood Stand, which recessed panel look to them built into the wall.

LIGHTING:
LED lighting, with an aluminum frame.

CIRCULATION:
Reeflo Dart Pump

FILTRATION:
Super Reef Octopus Skimmer XP 5000 Ext.
70 gallon refugium
100 gallon Sump
Shallow sand bed

HEATING:
2 x 300 Watt Heaters

MONITORING:
Apex Controller with ORP, PH and Temp Probes, also running the LED lights simulating sunrise/sunset

Over the next few days I will post pictures of the my original tank, and the original dining room. I will than fast forward with a few pictures of the dining room/fish room build. I want to thank many of the people here on Reef Central for putting up with all my questions and for all the help they have been. Thanks.

HISTORY:

I have been in the Saltwater hobby since I was 10 years old, I started with a small 45 gallon tank with a 10 gallon sump. As time progressed the tank has changed, and I have learned so much. Well let's start with some pictures, and I'll explain as I go.

PICTURE TIME:
Here is my old 90 gallon that I have had since 2002. This is the tank that replaced my 45 gallon that I had for 12 years.

Here are the before pictures of the dining room, which would later become the dining room/fish viewing room.

And last but not least, the closet that was to become a fish room:

Now let's fast forward through Destruction/Construction:

More tonight, including the bringing the tank home and fish room construction"¦ stay tuned.

Now to continue with the construction and tank arrival:

Here is the revised room plan (since the original design was for a considerably different tank):

Wife vs. Skimmer (I really have to say my Wife has been amazing during this whole build and really has supported me with my hobby.)

Let the week of filling begin (~700 gallons to the total system)

All the live rock from the old tank is now in the new saltwater:

My Wife is so sweet (or she was just sick of me using the kitchen wash cloths):

The first inhabitants have arrived from my LFS (6 Clownfish and 6 Yellow Tangs):

And basically that has been a year's worth of work in a few posts :-) Thoughts, comments? Thanks for looking at my thread.

Very nice! I really like the dimensions of your tank, you will be able to do some really neat aqua-scaping.

Looks good so far. You guys are making me jealous with all these nice set-ups (tanks been dry while I save for equipment). We love pics so keep them coming. It always helps when the wife is cool. Have fun

I like the way the tank comes out into the room just that little bit, much better than the typical flush in wall installs a lot of people do. I did something kind of like it with my Craigs list special http://www.thereeftank.com/forums/f161/big-tank-small-budget-265-mixed-build-thread-156580.html

What little we can see looks like the room went through a pretty extensive upgrade too. Funny how doing something to a tank can make you find all the other things in the room that can be improved. I know my upgrade was complete until I thought that new carpet would set the tank of better, then came the wall mounted TV...come to think of it I'm still not done!
congrats on what looks to be a really nice dining room, I bet the tank will ensure that it gets used!

Keep the picks coming.

I love how the tank fits the room, very nice. The worst thing to me is when a tank just doesn't fit the space.

I totally agree!! I honestly can tell you that the original plans were to have a 300 Gallon that was 8' long eventually, but I'm really happy with the way this tank turned out.

To answer one of the other comments, yes it sticks out in the room only about 7 inches, but the best part is people always want to step into the fish room to see the large pane behind the wall looking in from the side, it's about 2' x 2 1/2'

I will tell you the Wifey was sure happy with the results of the room, and we eat in there every night... My Son, who is now almost two wants to go in there all the time to see the "fish" or "fishies;" also, anyone who stops over he wants to take them over to show them the tank :-) I'm so proud to pass on the fish hobby to the next generation.

Well my Parents gave me an early Christmas Present.... 100lbs of Marco Rock

I'll post a new picture tonight with the tank all cleaned up.

I think I'm going to need to get some more SPS corals, anyone trying to clean out their Frag tank?
