These are some pics of my 6 month old reef, I have made some changes of late. The colt coral has been removed and I have a cool new green scolymia. I started out with a twelve gall eclipse and upgraded after a year or so.

Some of the corals are a large metallic green open brain. A large four headed leather. A variety of ricordea and disc mushrooms, your average zoo's and star polyps, and a few other different types of LPS. I have 2 65 watt compact flourescent lights and 50 lbs of live rock (haitian and fiji mix) and a trickle filter.

A few fish, two clark clowns, a dusky blenny, midas blenny, golden cori wrasse, neon goby and yellow tail damsel. A serpent star, sifter star, a 2 year old hitchhiker urchin, a bunch of snails and hermit crabs, and a coral banded shrimp.

hope you like, it's a work in progress.

I want to upgrade to a 110 gal but my Fiance is putting her foot down. She bought me this one in December and the one before that the Christmas before. At the rate I'm going, I need a new one every six months but she aint haven it. I've taken some stuff out and donated it to the local high school so that I can have room for growth. Thanks for the reply.

I sure like it. Post some pics of the sump/filtration setup.
Any skimmer in use??
Return pump is???
I like tech. stuff.
Please.
Thanks

thanks,

i got the ricordea for about 15 bucks per rock(not mouth, each rock had 2-3 mushrooms),LFS had a hearty supply at one time and sold them for cheap. M-29ost of them have split now and i have double the original number.

I am not much for tech stuff, the pump is just a RIO i think 1500 or 2500 I don't know. I don't have a skimmer, just do 15-20% water changes about every two weeks. LFS sells ocean water, it's a great excuse to get to the store and check out the new stock. It's a pretty rinky dink set up, thats why i don't have any really difficult corals. The ugly colt coral on the left side is gone the brown and orange Acan fried it, when i moved the tank I guess i had the too close.

I have been looking into a skimmer but there are so many choices and so many different sizes and prices. I read a ton about them and i know everyone uses them. It is a matter of time and neccessity that i get one.

I really appreciate everyones feedback thanks!

you have a trickle filter? are you using bioballs? do you know your nitrate levels? just curious because some people say that "dirty" water may be beneficial to some softies, and it does look like your corals are doing well...

If your tank is doing well, why add skimmer? I have read many threads where they kept their tank skimmerless with good results just like you have.

i guess i could get by without, just looking for ways to upgrade, and keep things in good shape. looking to add a hang on back fuge to sustain a higher pod level.

thanks,
makes me proud, since i moved my tank a couple months ago, i'm completely obsessed again, and i'm at the lfs about 5 times a week. my birthday was on thursday and i got 150 bucks in gc. bought sweet acan lord that i'm picking up tomorrow, its gonna look sweet.
