My 38G Stocking Plan

Here's my tank: It's 38G, but there's only 31-32G in the tank including the back area, the "Built in sump"/filter.
The main display part is 24 inches left to right, 14 inches front to back, and 19 inches high. I believe the display is holding about 25-26G

I know that I want to get this Mimic Saddle Puffer, which I'm willing to try as far as "Reef Safe" goes for a bit. I hear it's hit or miss on whether or not that snack on your coral.
I'm seeing 30G Minimum, and 3-4in on that.

I also wanted to get 2 Black Clowns. 2-3in
1 Green Clown Goby. 1-2in
1 Dwarf Angel: I'm looking at this Red Stripe Angelfish, or Rusty Angelfish (Though I see the Red Stripe gets 6in?)

So I'd have 5 fish I guess, is that too many? Could I squeeze in another smaller one like a fire-fish? Is the Angel too big?
Any other cool fish suggestions, I'm just going down the list at liveaquaria sorting by 30G...

But I've had my eye on the Mimic for some time.

You have a very nice looking tanks! Personally I would only put 4 fish in your tank but other may say you could get away with 5, but my successful threshold for keeping fish seems to be ~10 gallons per fish for the small/medium ones.

I would get the valentini puffer (since you like it so much), the clownfish pair and the clown goby and skip the dwarf angel. If you tank is uncovered like it looks like in the picture, do not get a firefish as it will jump out at some point. I had a valentini puffer for a few days before taking it back to the LFS because it ate all of my snails, hermit crabs, and was working on eating my cleaner shrimp. Apart from cleaning out your cleanup crew, I do not think it will eat corals except for clams.

There's actually a glass top that fits over the entire display, it just looks invisible from certain angles (Which is nice).

I also saw that that Mimic might have an appetite for inverts, but then some say theirs never touched them.

Well if I skipped an Angel and had
Mimic, 2 Clowns, and a Clown Goby, I kind of feel like I could do a firefish and maybe even a small pygmy wrasse.

I would still skip the firefish. They're very timid and likely to be intimidated by your clowns, especially when they mature and start spawning. What kind of clowns are you thinking of?

A possum wrasse would probably do ok in there, but you might not see it vey often. They're sort of cryptic. Is that the pygmy wrasse you were thinking of?

I was looking at Black and White Ocellaris Clownfish
I have a firefish in my 60G actually and he spends most his day in a 4inx4in area or hiding. So maybe not that.
