My 6 Gallon today.

I haven't posted any pics of this tank in a while.

I want to add a few more zoa colonies, maybe some brighter coloured mushrooms and some xenia or something.

It currently has 32W of PC yet is getting a 70W MH in a few days - this may change my stocking list. I'll get some pictures after the MH has been in for a few weeks to try and see the difference it makes to the corals.

I probably want to take some rock out to make more room for corals.... this tank has been slightly neglected as of late. I'm forced to leave it for 2 whole months this summer so I'm worried about buying anything new now.

--The bottom piece of trim needs to be stained. I replaced it and can't find the rest of my stain... ah, hopefully I don't have to start colour matching (or color matching). The tank will be lowered down a little more so you can't see as much of the dirty sand bed.

Thanks everyone.

greystreet41, (I definately just played a little grey street...)

-Currently it's a Coralife 32W PC fixture. Two 50/50 bulbs. It's done fine for these corals, yet I think they could look better. Though they are all growing, I feel some have lost some colour when coming home from the LFS.
-(2) MJ 400's. One pull water into my sump which is directly behind, from here water can overflow back into the display. The second MJ is located outside of the tank, yet is purely for flow in the display.

I have no idea what species the gorgonian is... It's a little out of focus in this pic, I'll try and get a better one.

It is gorgeous though, unfortunately the polyp's don't spend all that much time out during the day.

I've also heard that they require a good amount of nutrients in the water column to survive... I might move it out of this tank into a bigger one.

I had a flame scallop that died suddenly after 4 months of looking healthy, it must have starved, though I tried to feed it. I fear the gorgonian will share the same fate. Also, I have a cocoworm in there pulling things out of the water column.

I've stopped skimming to help them out.

I dont run a skimmer on my tank for that reason, Im afraid I'd lose to much in my water colum for my filter feeders and why I put my goofy little refuge on instead, also did that for my pod population which super exploded and they are everywhere even with lights on, so this last week I picked up a spoted mandarin which I know is early tank is only 6 mths but with this insane amount of pods I think I should be fine

Part of the neglect of the 6gal has been because I'm working on this right now....

15L, but I may put a regular 20G in. I will only have to modify my canopy slightly.

This is very rough right now. It will have 2 main doors on the bottom as well as a smaller one running the width of the front of the stand - the top part of the canopy will also have a similar door on it. Trim needs to go in many places and the whole baby will eventually be stained, probably a dark colour.. seems to go with my room..

It's quickly becoming a zoo in here. If I start another tank - stop me.. though, I should probably have a pico... maybe one I can fit in my bag and bring to lectures with me...

I originally wasn't going to make a sump, but it seems silly not to now considering the beefy stand I have built. Ugh... time to try and drill glass.

Comments, suggestions etc. are very much encouraged and appreciated... I'm trying to do things properly this time around.

Here's a closer shot of a few of those gorgonian polyps that I took a month or so ago.

I bought this coral for 50% off the usual price, plus talked them down a bit because a large shipment was coming into the LFS and they needed room. I'm told it is a rather rare specimen :)

This quick and dirty MS Paint job shows you better how I intend for the finished stand to look... Again, any design tips appreciated...

wow awsome tank! I was wondering how you placed one of your powerheads "outside" of the tank. Can you show me a pic, it sounds like a sweet idea because i want to hide my powerhead in my 5.5, also, can you post pics of how your fuge looks like, i really want to add that to my 5.5 also. thanks a lot and SWEET tank.

There is no mandarin in there.

amiricle,

The powerheads out side of the tank simply involved plumbing them with rubber tubing. I'll find you a pic of it tomorrow. Starting the pump is a bit of a pain because it must be submersed. Once it's moving water I can take it out of the water.

I'll also get a pic for you of the "sump". It's a rubermaid container that was the right size for my set up.

The linkia is rather new... 2 weeks it's been in I think.

It's a pretty cool star actually. It adds some nice colour but is also highly active. It can really move when it wants to.
