I dont know what color to go with on the background Blue or Black so I put some temporary black in to see what I think. You can also see my return pipe and see how I have plumbed it in.

Update on NSW holding tank, I have placed it on a stand. I done this because it is gravity fed into my sump. so by raising it 20" I can use all of the water in it and not waste about 500 ltr

I will keep you all up to date on the progress

nice nice

i wonder what the neighbors are thinking, seeing all them holding tanks.

Nothing I hope :)
It is quite common over here to have such large tanks for the collection of rain water. (we are in a drought at the moment)

Cool, thats a huge tank. Where do you collect your NSW from?

Since when is Aussie spelt with one s?  :p

The NSW is collected from either the back beaches of Sorento or Hastings

And I know that Aussie is spelt with two "s's" but a lot of these boards have a limit on the characters you can have in your username and this one has just stuck. :)

I live right across the bay from you...very near Queenscliff. I have considered collecting NSW from the jetty there, would that be safe?

Yep should be ok, just take a sample of water from where you want to collect from and test it. Make sure there are no storm water drains near by also. There are plenty of ppl that collect there own water around Melbourne.

We at the shop use the same cartage company that Melbourne Aquarium uses, and they test the waters around the bay and say this is where we want it collected from. Usually it is from Hastings.

I wish I got free SW. Not fair, lol.

It's one of the advantages of living close to the ocean. But it is not free, it will cost me $100AU/1000ltr to have it delivered

ok.I'll give it a go, I have a mate that works on a charter off Queenscliff. I might get him to collect some for me...I would think there should be no problems a km or so out.

Thanks for the info mate.

Ok some more plumbing has been done on my Tank. Here are a couple of photo's

This one is the Durso stand plpe with the return worked around it.

This is how I have done my return (from sump) there are 6 like this throughout the tank.

Will post more as work is done.

The next to do is some more work under the house. I have done some work but I think a bit more would be needed as there will be about a ton and a half on my poor old floor boards

Ok Time for an update. Tank and holding tanks have been filled, about 5" of sand has been added. A Tunze 6100
and single controller and a 6025 nano has also been added. Giving me 14,500 l/h circulation, going to add 2 more 6045.

i have put a couple of inches of sand in the sump and some live rock rubble. Also connected up my Kent float switch
and connected it to my RO holding tank. My return pump is an old Laguna 4, going to replace it with an Ocean Runner 6500
as soon as there are some in the country (I work in an Aquarium and there are none)

I am still debating over the lights for this setup, thinking about going with 16 x 4' HO T5's or 4 x 150watt matal halides and
8 x 4' HO T5's. This I why I haven't got a hood on it yet.

Any suggestions or comments welcome
David

Looking good David. I think the 4 x 150watt matal halides and
8 x 4' HO T5's would be the way to go, best of both worlds. Keep it up :)

Yep this is what I am leaning towards, Now all that I have to do is plan the hood and how the Mh will fit under it.

The whole thing is running at the moment, just got to get some live rock. Was thinking about 60-80 Kg as this will be a coral tank and not to many fish (4-6 fish), and you get quite a bit of live rock on most of your corals.

I am planning on keeping a Conspicuous Angelfish (Chaetodontoplus conspiculatus) (I haven't seen one of these for about 6 months, but should
be able to my hands on one), a pair of Onyx Percula Clowns (Amphiprion percula "Onxy"). I haven't decided what else to keep as yet, there are a few fish on my short list.

Really? If I had a tank that size I would not be able to stop at 4-6 fish. Are you planning on keeping all SPS or mixed corals?
