My 70gal almost-cube rimless tank (Soon to be SPS Dominated)

Actually my friend also got a pair for his tank. So far his purple queens are also doing very well and eating. Must have been a good batch. :D

gotta love those purple queens! are they readily available from davy? might pay him a visit once my tank is ready to take in livestocks :)

edit: does davy sell corals too?

I didn't get them from davy! I got them from the exporter in Gatchalian. I think davy has them also sometimes but im not sure if he has them now. Davy has started selling corals already like blastos, acans, favias, brains, plates, and even clams. He even started bringing in a few sps pieces.

Just some updates.

2 months running and all livestocks are doing very well. SPS corals have started growing already and consume quite a lot of calcium. Been able to keep purple, reds, greens, and yellow sps already however still having problems keeping blue sps. Not really sure why. Need more research regarding this.

Here are some pics I took yesterday.

Just some updates...

After some time battling nitrates, i finally have it under control. Its been about 3 months of dosing vodka and mb7 and after checking my parameters last night it has finally gone down from 20ppm to 5ppm. I had to reduce feeding which cost me my anthias. :( I had to convert my in-line frag tank to an in-line live rock fuge. I moved almost all the LR on top of the dsb to increase flow over the dsb.

I also had some sps casualties these past few months due to the heat wave that occurred here while i still didn't have a chiller. Some sps had suffered some STN and I lost my prized superman monti. :(( My temp reached as high as 32C even if I already installed 8 fans on the display tank. But this friday my new chiller will be arriving finally and will be installed this weekend. :) Hoping to bring down the temp from 29C (now) to 26C after installing the chiller.

Looking forward to having my sps color up soon.

That Superman monti pic looks like a Rainbow to me due to the green polyps. Looking great, very clean.

It was sold to me as a superman monti. Unfortunately it bleached due to the heat wave that occured here. It was actually my favorite and it still saddens me that I lost it. Will be installing a chiller this weekend to make sure it never happens again. Thanks!

Updates: 7/6/2010

1. Added a chiller last month and now my temp is stable between 26-27C.

2. After months of vodka dosing i am now at 9ml per day and last weekend when i checked my nitrates it has started to go down already. From 20ppm it is now just 5ppm only. I thought it had gone down before but it went back up to 20ppm when i had some casualties due to the heat wave here. Hope everything goes well. One of my browned out acros have started to turn green. Still hoping that my other sps will color up also.

Will post pics soon!

Planning to rescape my tank soon and add other sps colors. It really gets boring to keep seeing green all the time! hehe!
