My 70gal almost-cube rimless tank (Soon to be SPS Dominated)

Rescaped my tank with the help of a good friend over the weekend.

Removed 98% of my softies and transferred them to my nano tank and just kept this tank mainly SPS.

Hope you guys like it.

This is how it turned out...

4/18/2011 Update

Its been a while since i last updated my thread here. Things have changed quite a bit already from the last post. Rescaped my tank, changed out some livestocks, added new livestocks, switched over to Biopellets, upgraded my lights etc...

Here is what my tank looks like now...

versus - Yep. It stands there to guard my tank from bad things that can happen to my tank! hehe! As for the lighting...all i can say is wow. Its a great investment and much much better than my old MH system. Plus the controls are fantastic.

aquaph8 - Thanks and thanks to the inventor of BP. It really helped a lot in keeping the nutrients in my tank low.

thanks.

I just set the lights to about 20% power during the 1st day. And then increased it by 10-15% every other day until i reached the current setting which is about 65% white and 90% blue during peak. I think my corals were pretty much used to the strong light as i was using 250watts SE MH before with a lumenbright reflector so the adjustment for the corals wasn't as drastic.

Ive been looking into getting an AI module...do you think 1 AI SOL Blue would be able to light a 2ft cube?

looks good BTW with all the zoas mixed in.

I dont think one would be enough to cover the whole tank unless you scape it in a way that the ai module is directly over 1 island. However i think there are available optics now that can provide a wider angle to cover the whole tank. I myself am using stock ai's cause the wider optics arent really available here. Hope that helps.

I actually do have 1 center island in my cube. Im curious now about the different optics. Maybe there is a chance for 1 unit to do it. thx

wow, now that is one nice build thread you put together. the progression and many changes was good to watch as the tank matured. I noticed as you started adding sps into your reef they were added as colonies and not frags-to-grow, so you must have a nice resource for acquiring such colonies or did you take them from another system you already had?

what do you use / dose to keep your calcium / alk levels up to par with such large colonies of sps?

great job anyways...
