Got started on my 75G build today.

I built a temporary stand out of 2x4's to get my layout right and get everything plumbed up to make sure I could fit the stand into the area I plan to put it and everything fit inside.

Heres a parts list of what Im going with.
75G Marineland/Perfecto RR Tank with Corner Overflow
48" Current Outer Orbit HQI/T5HO Light (2x 150W HQI, 4x 54W T5)
Reef Keeper Lite (3x PC4, SL1)
American DJ 8 Outlet Power Strip
Autotopoff.com Dual Sensor Sump System
29 Gallon Sump
10 Gallon Refugium
MRC MR-1 Skimmer (Fed by Panworld 100PX Pump)
Eheim 1262 Return Pump (Feeds return to tank and refugium)
Bulk Reef Supply Dual Reactor
3x Tunze 6025 (Haven't decided on this for sure yet...)

Whole Temporary setup on 2x4 Stand (Will be adding plywood for tanks to sit on temp to simulate the solid bottom that inside floor and top of the final stand will have)

10 Gallon 'Fuge that will gravity drain into return section of 29 Gallon sump

RKL, SL1, BRS Dual Reactor

Outlets and More Outlets (I plan to make a power box with 4 outlets inside the stand and run only 1 cord out of tank to the wall outlet)

MR-1 Skimmer to be ran external to the stand, did not want to make the stand so tall to fit it underneath. This side of the stand will be going up against a wall so the left side wont be as viewable anyway.

If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them. I am still learning at this and trying to do it right the first time around hopefully.....

Thanks,
Josh

Got my plumbing mocked up around the stand. Seems like I can make everything work for the final build. I think in the final stand I will make a cabinet to the left of the tank to enclose the skimmer, so that will give me a little more room in that area and will not effect my plumbing.

The only thing left to do is drilled the hole for the bulkhead. I went with a larger bulkhead in case I ever upgraded pumps with a larger feed size. Right now I just have one that I cut off flush with the flange taped in place to get everything mocked up before I drilled a $70 aquarium.

Anyone who knows anything about the plumbing side of this please let me know if this all looks ok before I glue it up and do some testing...

Got all my plumbing glued together last weekend. I have been running the skimmer and return/fuge pump all week to checkout my plumbing. No leaks so that is a +.

I got some glass baffles cut yesterday by Ervin Glass Systems in Salisbury (Always do a great job). Got them all put in late last night. If there is one thing I have learned that is that Silicone is messy. Every time I use it I end up getting it everywhere. I know its not the cleanest job but hey its a sump and it holds the glass, thats all that matters.

I put a baffle in the corner where my ATO will be located to help keep the waves from turning it on and off all day long. "hopefully"

Baffles in the sump. Did not see a reason for the 3rd one (only reason I have seen to have 3 is to keep the surface of the water broken on the exit side), my fuge drain will be breaking the surface on the return section so that should remove the need for the 3rd baffle. Right? Or is there another reason for the 3rd one? I have another piece of glass I can add if I need to have the third one for a specific reason, I just wanted to avoid the waterfall sound by removing the 3rd one if it wasn't needed.

'Fuge baffles. Main reason for them is to keep cheato and sand out of the drain area. I will be putting some eggcrate over the open section of the baffle to keep anything in the 'fuge from getting to the drains and potentially clogging them.

I made a DIY waste collector after some research based off a post from a member on another forum.

Here it is.

My silicone for my baffles has setup now so I will be doing water tests today with them in place and testing out my waste collector.

your fuge looks like its sitting too high... what light are you going to put on top of it? or what fits in between the top of the fuge and the bottom of the display?

I plan on making my stand 3-6" taller on the inside when I build the final version this weekend. This was just tempory and I wanted to see if everything fit. I actually have plenty or room as it is to do what needs to be done in it from my testing though.

I am going to be using a current dual 40w PC fixture.

Thanks for the compliments. As far as the stock list I have not really put a lot of thought into that yet... I'll prob work that out while I'm waiting for it to cycle...

I hope to build the final stand this weekend...

Looks good, can't wait to see it in a few months. How does your DIY collection cup work? I modified my skimmer cup to drain intoa 5 gallon bucket, just trying to figure out what you built there. thanks.

Got my final cabinet 90% done. I will post more pictures later when I get them off my camera. Only thing that is left for building is finishing the two doors below the tank and drilling the holes for the plumbing. Then staining and finishing....

awesome, such a good iidea with the stand, im going to doing that in the future

Yea I really like the way it turned out. Now as long as the finishing process turns out as nice Ill be happy.

I agree, that stand is REALLY cool! In my build I am planning on doing something very similar, but the cabinetry to hold the external skimmer is not going to be connected to the stand. I think yours is a better set up.

One thing I might suggest, since I have had this problem with running my skimmer externally, is to have some kind of container under it. That way if it goes crazy and overflows it won't soak your stand or your floor.

I have the waste collector which will shut it down it that gets full. But I also have a float switch that will kill the skimmer pump if the waste collector fails and it gets slam full.
