My 75

Very cool Justin. Let us know how the noise level is on that drain. If it is not noisy that might be a great space saving design.

Cool- Im actually going to a few LFS today and tomorrow to finally add livestock!!!
Im considering adding sand to my fuge as it is bare right now. I wanted to grow chateo.
Nice. I was at Tropical Island the other day, and they had a bunch of nice stuff in. Maybe give them a try.

Very nice looking . . . along for the ride on this one.
Thanks. Glad to have you along!

Thanks Robert. I'll post a video once it's wet so everyone can hear how loud it is. Hopefully it's silent though.

I love it, geat job so far!
Thanks!

I started the light rack. Right now it is 4" off the top of the tank, and 10" from the bulb to the water line. I'm going to run 250W Radium's so I think I might have to raise it. Here's how it looks now. I still need to paint it and figure out where the LED's can go.

Leak test good so far. If its good by tomorrow, the RODI is going in. Here is a video of how quiet the overflow is.

Looks and sounds good, are you adding any screen to the overflow or do you have to worry about little fish going over the falls? Cant really tell if its under water or not.

Thanks! The return pump can overpower the overflow, and make it submerged. I have the pump throttled back though until the rest of the equipment/tanks are plumbed. This keeps it right at the slit. I'll try to take a good picture of it and post it later.

In regards to the screen, this is my plan.
At first the plan was to run some silicone with a qtip along the insides of the slit, then press some netting to it. I see this as a problem because it's kind of like a turf scrubber, and I'm afraid of algae build up. A fellow reefer suggested drilling 3/8" holes along it. I thought about this also, so the pipe is interchangeable. The only parts of the drain pipes in the tank that are glued are the two 45's on each side. I wanted to make it so I could adjust the height of the overflow bar, and by doing this it let's me change it as I like.

No leaks for a couple of days, so I'm gonna fill it. I need to rinse the sand, put the rocks in, and fill it back up with rodi. I plan to add the salt to the refugium section of the sump slowly. I'm going to put a powerhead in there to help it stir up more. Is this a bad idea with the sand and rock already in the tank?

Kyle- thanks bro! I don't think I'm going to put the wave box back in. I hooked up the 2 streams during the leak test, and I think that will be plenty of flow.

Dave- thanks for helping with this. When you wanna do yours, let me know.

The tank looks great! If you have that wavebox, I would consider hooking it back up. The streams are great powerheads, and will provide good flow. BUT, the wavebox will add another 'dimension' to the flow. Although, does it cause lots of noise with your overflow?

I had a wavebox on my 65g (nano wavebox), and I loved it. It took up some room in the corner, but the advantage of having it far out-weighed the box look. My SPS seemed to absolute love the different type of flow. I also had 2 MP40's on that tank as well, so I didn't 'need' more flow. I think you'd be pleased with it, if you tried it. Either way, the tank looks great! :)

Thanks. Yes I still have the wavebox, but I'm trying to avoid putting it back in if I can. I've ran this combo of streams and WB and my previous tanks, but this is the smallest tank they have ever been in. During the leak test I used an air pump and a fine stone to see how the flow moved the bubbles around the tank. The streams are hooked up to a 7096 controller, so the flow was random as well as strong. If I end up needing anything more for flow, I might put MP10's on the back wall. The MP40 is too loud for my liking, although it is a killer pump. And lastly, yes I am concerned with the noise from the wavebox and overflow.

I braced the floor joists under the tank because when I would walk around near the tank, the floor would "bounce". The room that the tank is in has a little crawl space under it with a concrete foundation. Crawling up in here was the least enjoyable part of the build thus far.

And it is now filled with saltwater.
