My 90G Build

Chibils

halide loyalist
Since my last thread died (and I lost it), here we go again:

I had originally planned on a 55G, using my old 20XH as a sump. We ordered the stand and canopy from the lfs, but after three weeks of being unable to get in contact with the builder (custom made), I just went in this morning and bought the 90 they had on the floor from him.

Specs:
50x19" stand, red mahogony finish
10" tall canopy, red mahogony finish
90G RR AGA tank
2x150w MH (from when I had planned on my 55); I plan to supplement in the future with 2x54w actinics (Tek reflectors and an IC ballast)
30G sump/fuge
Octopus NW150
1 maximod 1200 for the time being, going to add a koralia in the future)

I'll add pics of the empty tank tomorrow hopefully (since I haven't even ordered my ro unit yet).

Thanks for all your help guys, you've saved me somewhere in the neighborhood of hundreds of not a thousand+ by letting me get the setup right the first time.

I'm excited. :)

Unfortunately, I have nothing but 16lbs of base rock, a maxijet and my lights for the time being. I can't even fill up my tank yet since I don't have my ro (I suppose I could to make sure it holds water, but I'd have to drain it again).

Edit: Anyone have experience with the live rock from drsf&s/etropicals? I'm looking at a small box of fiji or tonga since there's not a single lfs around me that has uncured live rock.
They all have about a thousand pounds+. And it's all cured.

I'm far from a expert, but my setup is very similar to yours. I am setting up a 95 gallon with 35 gallon sump/fuge. Many here have recommended I go with the NW-200 skimmer vs. the 150. Just some food for thought

just keep in mind more than likely you will have to take out the damsels when you add other fish later down the road trust me i had to get 4 of them out with 150 lbs of lr not fun
use the shrimp method

I planned to use the shrimp method, plus it's cruel imo to cycle with live animals.

Got my 30L for my sump, glass is to be cut for the baffles soon. :)
