I had a small outbreak of red slime and I went to my LFS and they sold me a red slime algea remover. I asked him it would hurt anything in the tank and he told me no. I put the stuff in and immediately the long tentacle anenome curled up and disappeared in the sand. Has this happened to anyone else and if so will he come back out or is he gone forever. This is my first one and he had tripled in size since I bought it a couple of months ago. I would hate to loose it.

What brand did you use & how much? What other inhabitants do you have in the tank & have they been affected?

I have used Ultra Life Red slime remover in the past (which, by the way didnt do much). It had no effect on my btas.

I have a half dozen LPS in the tank and 1 neon dottyback. Nothing else even noticed a change. I'm at work now but I will get the brand name when I get home.

I just got home this morning and it is the Ultra life Red slime remover. The anemone is still MIA. I guess he didn't like the chemicals. That sucks I really liked him.

Yeah he is no longer with us. I guess I'm going to go shopping next week for a new one. I'm going to do a water change tomorow when I get home from work.

Umm he doesn't just curl up, pack up, and exit the tank, HE IS STILL IN YOUR TANK! He may be decomposing under your sand and you may have a problem with your tank. You need to find him and get him out!

oh and I would stay away from chemicals. They are just a temp. solution and can harm livestock if not used correctly. If your tank needs more flow or the lights are on too long, the red slime will come back. I suggest checking the lights and flow, just use a turkey blaster to suck up the red slime until you have your flow and lights adjusted accordingly.
