I'm interested in seeing how Marine Depot handles this one. I ordered the AquaMedic 2x250 1x150 Sexy 48 light a week ago. When I received the light, I saw that the male and female plug-ins between the light and the ballast were different and incompatible. Called Marine Depot on Saturday, talking to Grant Lubbock. Grant got AquaMedic on the phone Monday, AM said they knew this was a problem and they supplied retrokit cable splices that had the correct plug-ins (tho why the heck they didnt supply the retrofits in the first place I dont know).
They got the retrofit cables to me by Friday (day after Thanksgiving), I installed the lights on Saturday (today). Not thirty minutes after the lights were up and working (and I was getting dressed to go out to eat), my wife says one of the 250 watters had quit working!
Its an in-the-wall aquarium, so I went into the room that contains the sump and behind-the-tank hardware and lo and behold the darn thing is on fire!!!!!!!! Where the retrofit wire plugged into the wire coming from the light was brightly aflame! I unplugged it and got the fire out.....Damn we were thirty minutes away from being out to dinner, kids alone in the house, and these lights flame out.... Called Marine Depot, got Grant again (guess hes the only one that works on Saturday) I told Grant the situation. Hes going ot get a 3 way concall between me, MD and AM on Monday am. I told Grant it would be wise to have a member of management from MD on the phone as well. I cannot say how scared I was that these guys shoddy product imperiled my kids lives....Ill report back on this forum how MD handles this situation. What I want them to do is send all new cables for the light, a new 250 w ballast (the old connection where the fire occured is not lighting up now, I guess something was damaged, and new 250w bulbs. It would be nice MD if youd do something nice for me for being exposed to this kind of situation.
