My Biggest Mistake was Crushed Coral

Great post, I am very new to SW, in fact I have not gotten my tank yet. I now know that I will not being using crushed coral

Just checked the levels again today and still holding steady at 10. Tank seems to be happier all around.

IMO - I have CC in my tank and if you continue to do consistent water changes and actually vacuum the substrate to remove any unwanted detritus than having CC is fine. But it's all personal preference on how much time you want to spend maintaining. Anyways, your tank looks good, love the coral setup and color configuration!

4 months later nitrates are sitting at 5 and phosphates are .03. The switch out was the best thing we ever did. In the long term it made a hige difference as nothing else has changed other than we switched out the CC for fine sand.
