My Blue Hippo Tang QT Experience

Wanted to share my Experience with QT and Blue Hippo Tang.

Got my first BHT back in 5/10/2019. He was 1.5" at the time. Placed him in my 20 Gallon QT. He set up shop right between the glass and heater in the gap. After 10 days I noticed white spots and said here we go. Decided on Hyposalinity treatement (good for tangs IMO) since I have a reliable hanna checker and I make my own water. started lowering salinity and on 5/21 reached target at 1.009. After some time I noticed it was working.. White spots going away and eventually all gone. after 30 days at 1.009 I started raising salinity .001 every day. After 2 months in QT and salinity at 1.025, I am excited to hopefully soon see the little guy (for now) in my main tank.

Maybe 1 more week in QT at 1.025 and in he goes.

Just wanted to share some good news :P and thank the forums for giving me insight on what to do and properly.

Happy reefing

Glad you QT and caught it. Since Ick can remain dormant for extended periods (not showing). Next time you may not catch it.

I would recommend TTM for every new fish. It is the only way to passively (no hypo or copper) to insure no Ick.
