My BTA at 2 months..

Trying not to be paranoid, but I just wanted to get some feedback/reassurance that my BTA is looking well.

Big picture is here.

I got this from a LFS about 2 months ago - was about 1/2 the current size and was very light green (bleached).

Now it is a good 6" across when fully expanded and dark green/brown with purple tips. The tentacles are much longer now and I never see bubbles. It's in a 37g with 150W HQI 10K and 2 x 65W PC actinics. I've been feeding with mysis & cyclopeeze about twice a week. It's hosted by a pair of tomato clowns (female shown in picture).

This is my first nem, so I'd appreciate any feedback about it's appearance and my care methods. Thanks!

I think it looks fine. I also have one with a tomato hosting in it. Do you have any problems feeding it? I found with my tomato that when I feed the BTA I have to put a net over it or the tomato steals the food. Might be something to watch for. Also I feed mine silver sides. Just some useless info! :D

Thanks for the feedback!
Sorry about that.

Well, it looks great and if it has doubled in size than thats a plus. Feed it meaty foods such as silversides and pieces of shrimp. Anemones prefer that over mysis, cyclopeeze or krill. Besides lighting, this is where most anemones get a good portion of nutrition and energy.

The key to sucess with anemones is great flow, strong lighting, great water quality and the most important imo, tank stability. If you bought it bleached and it has doubled in size since you bought it from the LFS, than your obviously doing something right. As long as its tentacles are fully inflated, its sticky, its mouth is NOT gaping open and reacts quickly to eating time, then your BTA is a healthy specimen at that.

Just my 2 cents.

Sorry about that.

I was being serious, not sarcastic (which is rare for me). I just wanted to hear that it was looking healthy since this is my first anemone and pretty much every BTA I've seen at the LFS are very small or very bleached.

Ooooh I thought you were being sarcastic. I live off sarcasm so I guess I never thought twice about it.

Yes you definately have a nice BTA. Keep it up!
