my butterfly got knocked out!

getting ready for work this morning I checked the tank just to see how things were. Everything was fine. My butterfly was hanging out in some rocks like he always does. Everything was normal. One last look before I went out the door and I noticed the butterfly on his side. I paniced and scooped him out and put him in the qt I have set up because my peppermint shrimp were about to start at him. I then noticed the rocks he was hiding in had collapsed. I have no idea why. My three huge turbo snails were on the other side of the tank. At this point I don't know who else could be under the rock. My pair of diamond watchman gobies usually hang under rocks on the other side of the tank. But I hope the orange spotted goby got out in time.

I guess my question is can fish get knocked out like that? The qt I put him in has my cowfish on his last few days of getting rid of ICh (he is a trooper). Now I worry the butterfly will die and pollute the water and kill the cowfish. I wish my work would let me call in because of fish emergencies. Has this happened to anyone before ? I guess I need to glue my rocks!

I would be callin in sick because i would be sick and unless your work has a very detailed definition of sick you could consider your self as sick...in fact just before i retired (and iam under 50 years young) i called in sick (sick of working) because i had to use or loose my sick leave and i was not about to let them keep it as they were the ones who made me sick of working

my porc did it once, it ran full speed into the side of the tank because i was teasing it w/ a piece of shrimp, and it was on its side but still breathing, and about 30 seconds later, it was back up and trying to get the food.

Chaz, skip work and address the BFF. My PBT died in QT last night because I had to go to work in the am instead of addressing his obvious needs and planned on a large water change after I arrived home. Needless to say, I ended up spending the night scrubbing out the QT and kicking myself over the loss. Save the fish, use a day off!

while I was still into fresh water I had a oscar that would knock himself out eavery time the lights would come on and I had the fish for over 2 yrs.

not what I thought it was!

not what I thought it was!

unfortunatly I think the rock falling was a coincidence. Later that day he was dead. And within the next 48 hours 5 more fish died from I can only describe as marine velvet. My cowfish had ICh and was in the qt. Or maybe it was velvet the whole time. Other than what I thought was ich on the cowfish all the others seemed fine and then all of a sudden hit them quick and hard. 2 clowns, pearlscale butterfly, orange spotted goby, diamond watchman goby, and the cowfish. The only survivor (for now) is a small diamond watchman goby. Which is odd because it was mated with the other one that had it the worst. They were always together. Now I need to wait about 2 months to make sure the disease is gone.
