My Cozumel Trip Good & Very Bad

I was just in Cozumel Last week and had a fantastic time.
We stayed in a private home and I dove 5 days!
The reefs are looking very nice there! I seen a bunch of nurse
sharks and two black tips!!! That's the Good News.
Now the bad news, We flew into Cancun and also flew out of there. I have a Pack that I travel with and had no problem Carrying it on anywhere until I left Cancun. The US AIR Employees in Cancun argued with me about checking my bag I explained several times I have flown two years carrying on this bag, they
would not back down so I finally gave up and let them check my bag. Well stupid me that was in a hurry forgot my electronics in my bag and did not realize that I should have taken my stuff out that was important and carried it on with me. So I land in Phoenix scared that my stuff was going to be damaged, well to find out after opening my bag in PHX All my stuff is GONE! My Nikon D50,
IPod, Cell phone and computer all gone. I felt sick after realizing this it sux. Lesson learned never leave valuables in your check on luggage because they go threw your stuff there. It was weird because when I checked my bag they held it to the side with my girlfriends bag and must have warned people outside that our bags looked like a gold mine I am sooooooo disgusted.
I am filling a claim with US Air hopefully to get me stuff back or
get some money for it. Just thought I would share yes I am an Idiot:0(

justin,

thanks for this post.
i'm going to cancun in Feb, and will remember this.
You may have really helped someone out.

Sorry for your troubles.

No Problem.
Always carry on your valubles.
The camera does not make me that upset its the
memory card filled with over 350 pics I took there:0(

I have to say thanks to US Airways
I got my claim money in the mail.
$1542 and a $200 Voucher
This does not cover my Computer or My Pics:0(
But it sure will help with a new camera:0)

keep pressure on them, send an EECB to their executives and don't back down, their employees stole your **** man and if you don't fight to get it back then they'll just keep doing it instead of getting fired or arrested like they deserve

Sorry to hear that. I always bring a carry on.

Even that's not 100%. A few years ago I forced to gate check my carry on due to lack of space on the plane...too many other people that already boarded with more than their limit :( At the connecting airport, they couldn't find my carry on, but promised they would find it and get it to my local airport. Well, it didn't make it there. However, I did get lucky, 2 days later a courier delivers it to my house. It was even fully intact, all dive gear still in it and the bottle of rum was even in one piece.

woow im sad for you lost that things
i went to cancun 1 month ago and i brought 3 macralgaes but its not enough for my sump to eliminate nitrates :P
i will get over there on my next vacations and hope to pick up more macroalgaes such as codium, chaetomorpha, halimed, and a lot of diferents algaes

my airline didnt check my package cuz i live in here in mexico!

i've heard in the airport of cancun that persons who go to USA they have to get rid off the liquids and creams, wth? im lucky guy cuz i live in here!!

Your experience sounds identical to mine, i grew up in South Africa and traveled to America quite a bit. The SA airways were NOTORIOUS for rummaging through your bags. You were always urged to check every piece of luggage you had. Everyone i knew who flew internationally would end up with little items missing here and there. And dont even think about using those little locks that come with the suitcases, smashed right off. A neatly packed suitcase would be returned inside out. No joke.

This is always the greatest loss. I've never had anything stolen, but i have lost a hard drive with all my pics lost and it was crushing.
