My CS killed my Baby Max!

I got my first clam last saturday. It was a green Max. I placed it on the rockwork, about 1/2 up in the tank (see spec. in myinfo). It expanded pretty well but not all the way. It kept moving and falling off to the substrate so i moved it down to the sandbed on the 2nd day. A few hours later, it tilted to the side and there were some brownish strings coming out from the mantle itself (not from the syphons, from the flesh 0.o). I thought it didn't like its location so i moved it back to where i first placed it and it didn't move for like 3 hours. I noticed tho, the mantle didn't expand as much as it did the 1st day. I sat in front of the tank while i was doing my homework and i saw my cleaner shrimp PULLING ON THE CLAM's MANTLE! I moved the clam to another side and fed my CS a piece of shrimp...3rd day morning... my clam died...

I thought CS was reefsafe?

Agreed with the above, but just a warning.....you probably shouldn't get another clam. 2x65w PCs aren't even close for keeping a maxima.

only clam you may get away with is agigas but your tank is going to be way to small for it. they are low light clams. my avatar is a rare squammie.

I agree. I personally still wouldn't do a squamosa under those lights in a 29. Before I knew better I tried one in a 12 inch tank under 3 65 watt bulbs.
