My day...

So, We bought a new to us 2007 (used) chrysler town and country right before x-mas. Bought the extra warranty, and service contract... have the 8 year 80,000 mile drivetrain warranty, and a 36 month 36,000 mile bumper to bumper.. So last week the wife tells me the brakes are making noise... So, I look over my warranty paperwork... it says brake pads, and rotors are not covered.. so, I call the service center just to verify... they tell me the same.. so I go buy new pads. Two days ago, I had the time to install the new pads.. I pull the passenger rear wheel off... pads are toast.. down to metal on metal.. I think to myself... no wonder they are making noise.. So, I install the new pads on that side.. get to the drivers rear, and pads look brand new.. at least 3/4 pad left... well, I already changed the other side, so what the heck... put the new pads on.... went in the house, CALLED THE SERVICE CENTER, and made an appointment for today to have them look at the obviously bad brake caliper. I also saved the old pads to show them how bad it was... so, I drive the van to the appointment today,... sit there for over two hours.. the service man who is working on my van says "can you please come look at this" I say sure... go out to the van,... he shows me I have a bad caliper... I am thinking.. no crap... I told you this.. anyhow, the caliper piston is cracked, and you need a new caliper..He also tells me the brake pads are installed incorrectly.... Now, for those of you who know me, know I am VERY capable of installing brake pads.. there was NOTHING wrong with the install.. he says he has to talk to the service manager, because it "may not" be covered under my 20 warranties I have on it.. I say I would hope it will.. So, I go back and sit down.. another two hours goes by.. the service manager FINALLY comes out. He tells me warranty=no go because I changed the brake pads (which are NOT covered under warranty)... but the caliper is supposed to be.. He says I may have damaged the caliper during pad installation.. I say LOOK AT THE PADS I TOOK OFF,... try to tell me this problem just started two days ago... So, I get in a mild argument with the service manager... He says "I'm done with you"... So, the argument escallates into me yelling at him, telling him what I think of the so called "super warranties" they sold me when I bought the van.... he then gets a couple co-workers of his,... and escorts me, wife, and kids to the door... What a joke.... so, now I wasted over 4 hrs of my day... got nowhere,... and still have a van frying a brand new set of pads... (It was actually smoking when I got home on the wheel with the bad caliper).... so, long story short.... warranties suck! they are apparently worthless... they wont cover pads,.... but when you change the NON covered pads,... they wont fix your WARRANTIED caliper... which was bad in the first place, and the original problem to start with....

Oh, and BTW... this was Youngblood motors chrysler service center... I would highly NOT reccomend them to anyone!!!

Jason, that is some story! You didn't tell me the whole family was there!!!
Oh well, sometimes you just have to break loose :)

Stupid warranties, like I told you they sc.....ed m as well on my tranny.
Peace of mind until you need them! Should be the companies motto!?

Nope! :( Have an appointment for it on tuesday. It took a while to get the part in. I am taking it to stoneys garage, over by my work, and they are gonna take care of it while I am working. He said it will be about $85... cheap enough for me!

That ain't nottin', I had a guy bounch $4K in checks from stuff he bought from me over 5 weeks ago and won't make good on them, nor return my calls.

Yep, this is the guy who was at Baker's when you were there. Deadbeat, I bet I've called him 1000 times and he won't answer the phone or return my calls. Looks like I'm going to have to take further action after all, but I really didn't want to.

if I were you I would take that check immediately to the prosecutors office. I believe a check that large might be a felony. I feel bad for you as you took it in good faith and thought it was good.

I was going to make the same comment quintab. A check that big is a felony but I am guessing Dave already knows this.
He stated he was hoping to not have to take "further action"

:(
