Right now, for lighting, I have 2 400w 20,000k Hamiltons in reef optics retro fit fixtures. And 2 T-5 54w actinics. One in 480nm and the other 420nm. This is all on a standard 90gallon. Yes, that is very heavy in the blue spectrum, I know. The reason is that the tank also gets about 8 hours of direct sunlight a day in a south facing window. The strong blue is to compensate for the heavy yellow of the sun. It works out great. But, needless to say, I don't think it's a lack of light. It's mainly an SPS display and all the acros and monti's are fine.
My water parameters are:
calcium 450
ph 8.3
alk. 9dkh
nitrate approx. 1ppm
nitrite 0
phos. 0
I do feed alot of phyto and add Reef Plus so my nitrates never get down to 0. But I do weekly 10-15% water changes as regular maint. so it stays in check.
I also have 2 other clams. A maxima and crocea. And they are happy as clams. (forgive the pun) I wish I could post a good pic of it. But my camera is OLD. And the quality just isn't good enough to see the tentacle at all.
But the best desription I can give is that it has been losing color for over a month now. Not in one spot, but all over and kind of blotchy. Some days it will look like it's getting better. But then goes back to looking sick.
What I'm curious about is what kind of remedies are available? Will a coral dip (iodine) kill the clam?
