i just made my 24g aquapod topless again. i bought a current usa orbit pc 2x40w with 2x white lunar lights. i also bought a ac300/70 filter for a diy refuge. i also went to walmart and bought a lamp socket kit for about $5.00 and the 6500k bulb. i then took a old 24" all-glass flouresent light apart for the housing of it. i cut the housing with a dremel to make it 6 1/5" long. i then installed the light socket and also installed two 50mm fans for cooling. all the silicone is dry now so its done now all i have to do is goto my lfs tomorrow and buy some chaeto. heres some pics.

now its all dry and complete i cut the other side of the light housing off so i could close off the other side of it and siliconed it on.

the fans on the light fixture they are powered by a 3-12v power supply also bought from walmart.

the lid for the filter i cut a hole and then coved it with plexi glass i ruffed up the plexi glass where the silicone was gonna be and siliconed it on i also overlaped the silicone around it so it should never come loose.

yep looks good :) I did the same thing and just put a clamp lamp w/one of those coralife mini pc 50/50's in it. If that bulb you have doesnt work (which it should) then i'd suggest trying that coralife one.

yea i think this light bulb will be plenty for it and i like how it gives off a nice white light not yellow. i was gonna use a clip on light at first but i didnt want light spill into the tank. also im gonna run fuge light 24/7 and it is in my room and the way i did the light doesnt make light go everywhere else. i also might put some tint on the filter casing on the outside to block out more light.

Nice job on the fuge! what are you going to keep in it? cheato? sand? LR?

CPT.

chaeto for sure and probably some LR rubble.

ok an update today i got the filter running. i also covered the most of the filters case with electrical tape. the reason i did that is the tank is in my room and its to keep the light from lighting my whole room up. i also cut off some of the lip because it was pushing the water to much forward and the water draining to the back from the main part and the filter water were hitting together and making tons of splashing nosie but now the water flows strait down and it is super quiet. i took some LR rubble from chamber 2 and put it in the fuge i will have my chaeto later on today. heres a couple pics.
