Oh I can't wait to see "many diyers" copying that drilling design. I'd rather paypal Bill to let his magic machine do it for me. Do It Himself, I'd call it. ;)

well nothing will cut like a cnc router will. but there are many diyers that would would make that defuser plate by hand. it would take a month of sundays but it would be a nice one when there finnished with it.

How is your needle wheel pump's progress coming along? Have you mounted the new needle wheel to the pump yet?

well i ended up breking the needle wheel that im making for the 1000 series pump. the pins are too fragle. so i ordered a sheet of pvc type 1 and plan to cut a needle wheel out of that. then get some pvc rod to use as pins for it. that way the pins wont break as easy.
once i get the pvc sheet in i will make a new wheel and post some pics of it.

If you do check the perspective on those photos, the outputs of the pumps do collide, and that 6"-ish tube in the center is to support the bubble diffusing chamber, as unlike other models, it doesnt attach around the bottom edges to the outer wall of the skimmer. The tube isnt IN the chamber, its below it! Come on guys, think! If the outputs of the pumps were deflected by a central tube, then all the little holes in the center of the bubble diffusing chamber wouldnt be able to get flow! Duh. Im not being mean here...c'mon guys, were supposed to be designing skimmers here and we cant even figure that out?!?! Lol!

Hey Scott, I have a 1000 series sitting right here that would love a NW! :D

all in good time. right now i have about 2 dozen projects on the bench and have to try and get all of them done. i told you before it would be a little while before i could get to it. i still dont have the one for florida sent out yet. and he is before you are. i have fhis cone and twist lock done but i want to try the pvc sheet out and see if its more durable for making the wheels out of. im also reasearching the smaller tiny mite pumps for conversion using the pvc sheet. so all in good time there buddy. just because its free dont mean its fast. lol

Scott,
I hope I have some kind of clout for introducing the tiny mite pump! A PVC needlewheel to try out for the one I buy would be great!

right now im not commiting to any more freebees. like i said before i have 2 dozen projects on the bench and need to concentrate on some of them for now.l im not saying i wont consider it in the future but im so busy right now i wont commit to another project until i can see the bottom of the bench again. and its a big bench too. 6ft x 8 ft bench with tons of projects half finnished on it.
i have a calcium reactor i need to get finnish and installed on my tank. my reactor split a seam and my corals are suffering without it. so everyone just please be patient with me. good things come to those who wait. lol

yes no doubt! you are doing great work and really helping advance the hobby, IMO. Just a little nudge you know and a way to get Sequence to get it in gear. I am really happy with the skimmate I am getting so I have no emminant danger situation.

So what do you think of my "square" skimmer?? I am not in the same league as you and Bill but I am proud I built a skimmer that works well. When recovering from something like a stroke, these sort of accomplishments really mean a lot. :)

it seams to be getting good skimmate production. so thats what counts in the end. as long as its keeping your nitrates at zero it should be just fine.

HA!!! That is the understatement of the century... :D He is barely describing the bench accurately... but he conveniently left out what the rest of the garage is lookin like... he is a busy busy buy... He has my father-in-law slaving over a shop-vac for peanuts just tp keep things from getting any more out of hand  hehe...

sorry Scott... saw a shot... you know I had to take it :D

hey im getting ready to tackle a big skimmer. but need to get some acrylic tubeing about 12-14 inches dieam and about 6 foot tall. ill also need a riser cone made. any help or suggestions would be appreacated. marcus j ; ps im still balling

well bill those venturies are way better than mine. i love the look of them. i might have to steal your design. ha ha ha
did you recieve your care package in the mail today? i found that specal monti coral you were looking for too.

Nothing in the mail yet . Shold be here tommorow. I just guesed at ythe venturi and did what you said with th epipe angle and such , Hope it works ok .Getting the piping for this thing right is a ***** .
I have to mill donw all the unions so they fit closer .

the difference between my design and yours it the union. i have always put a threaded fitting in there. your was looks easer to make and better.
any pics of that massive cone yet??? how is the keyed flanges comming along.

The frist needle wheel pump is mounted , what a pain , every fitting has to be milled or cut done to fit in the space ,
