My Emeral Crab molted!!!

I thought I lost my 1 month ago interred Emerald crab. He was about 2" but appears to be 2.5" now. I looked in my 55 gallon long yesterday morning and couldn't find him anywhere and then, tucked up in a crevice, he appeared to be dead. I pulled him out and he was dead, or so I thought. What appeared to be my crab was lifeless but had weight in my hand. It was all there, albeit unmoving so he went to flusher. I was disappointed because all water parameters checked out great. At first, I thought maybe he had starved even though I had thought he was receiving enough food from detritus and an occasional bits of krill or algae I had seen him graze on. Later in the day, I saw my crab in all of his newfound green-colored glory. He sure appeared a lot bigger so I'm amazed that he was previously fitting in that molted skin of his. Evidently, he had tucked his molt away for future use of some kind. I guess the point is that if you think your emerald crab is dead, or that his color is somewhat pale, look around because I'll bet there's a good chance you'll find another crab hiding somewhere in your tank. I couldn't be happier!

I had the SAME thing happen to me! I had 2 emeral crabs, then one 'died'. I removed what appeared to truly be a dead, heavy body. Then later, I bought two more...so in my mind I had 3 emerald crabs...then one day I did a quadruple take as I saw 4 crabs!!! Then again just recently the same thing occurred with the other three. Two of them had full, heavy 'dead' bodies that I removed and one had an empty shell that looked more like a molt. I still have ALL 4 crabs! Amazing!
