Hey RC,
I thought I would share with the hobby community my experiences with CP.
Albeit, my tangs that came with ich weren't that bad, I couldn't chance it.
For the first day, maybe two days of administering the cp, the fish did well. No changes in behavior or eating patterns. All seemed well with more than the recommended dosage.
Day 2.5-3 rolls around: all fish seem slow and sluggish, not really lethargic, but subdued, let's say. Like a fish high. Most stopped eating. 6 line wrasse looked dead with a mucosal sac around him, but luckily he wasn't dead!!!
My tangs seemed most affected, they stopped eating nori, their ich emerged during tx, anthias looked like goners and clowns looked bad. Most fish had white stringy poop for sure.
What worries me the most was the appetite suppression. My dear sohal with such a personality wasn't eating. I was afraid it would perish.
Today marks day 7 of tx and luckily... Miraculously.... Most fish regained appetite!!! What a relief!!!
Wrasse is swimming around and eating, not dead!!!
Observations for sure:
1) appetite suppression. Temporary.
2) ich was seen: i attribute it to the fact it was completing its life cycle in 3 of my 4 tangs.
3) white film on glass- expected.
4) ammonia spike- not sure what to make of it, as API tests show ammonia at 8 ppm, and Red Sea test shows 2.0 ppm. Alert badge: between alert and alarm. Been dosing prime and ammo lock to "control" the ammonia. False spike???
5) weird smell from hospital tanks. Has a smell I can't explain but it must be the cp.
All in all, im glad I treated my fish and didn't let it sit in my dt.
I will update the board as time goes on. So far the cp from ebay seems ok. If not, then I will try NLS ich shield. Im just happy my fish ARENT dead and eating again. This has been such a stressor for me!
