I have a ?. I have them in a 30g tank. If I do a gallon a water change a week do I need a protien skimmer. All I have is the two fish and one coral for them to host. I have a filter thats rated for 65 gallons a uv at 9 watts and propeller for flow.Im going pos:hammer:t videos and pics soon. Thanks, Chris

Protein skimmers are always a good idea. A gallon a week is not enough. You should be doing at least 10%, more is better. Having a skimmer helps prevent the buildup of nutrients in your tank. If you choose not have get a skimmer, then I would be more aggressive with the water changes, say 6 gallons a week?

I think you will just be so much happier with a protein skimmer. It will make everything easier and be less stress on your pair than all those water changes. Good luck! I can't wait to see the pics!

I went ahead with the ESHOPPS 75H skimmer. It has been breaking in for 24hrs now and is breaking in nicely. I have had my pair for 5 days now and there colors are coming out more and more everyday since there over night UPS delivery last Friday. They have been sleeping and cleaning there flower pot since day one and I expect something good soon. My phone pics suck becuse the shutter speed is slow as hell. So picks to come soon.

You buy them as a spawning pair or a really long time ago, if it's either of those that would explain the cost. They look beastly, GL.

I bought them just 10 days ago and have done my research. They were on this guys website for at least a few months before I got them. You may find a bonded pair much cheaper but Shamu is over 3 inchs and he is 2.5. They were sleeping together in there pot the first night and have already started cleaning it and the female is in there almost all the time.

My clowns have started laying eggs now. Took about 6 months and there on there third clutch. The first clutch they ate and I just let the second one hatch and die. This third clutch has great color and I am thinking of giving it a try. I bought my 10 gallon tank today and will get water tom. How many clutches do you guys usually wait? Also the guy at the fish store said it was best to remove the pot from the tank at hatching time and replace it with another. Ive seen a lot of people siphoning them out. Any preference and why would help. Thanks

Take the pot out on the 7th night. Makes life a lot easier. There a lot of goods threads on here to help you out.

Good luck with it. Your going to need a lot of them to recoup your 800 bucks. I'm a breeder & snowflake clowns came down a lot in price. Usually around 2x the price of Ocellaris.
