My favorite part of putting a new fish in the tank!

This one didn't stay in my hand nearly as long as the first one did, but I couldn't get the camera to focus on that one until it left my hand :mad2:

nice wrasse captain !

Me again ; Great Wrasse!!!! Thanks for Sharing!!!:fish1:aring.....

Thanks guys!

Dare you to try that with a lionfish ;)

I had one years ago that would eat right out of my fingers. Don't think I'd want to try to hold one though.

I'm only seeing a empty square, I feel cheated.

Flickr is hosting the video and uses flash so you may need to update your flash player to see it properly.

It worked this time, very cool! Is that how you introduce all new fish ( except for tangs and lion fish :D)?

Yep, I find that if I go slow and don't spook the fish by chasing it quickly, I can just scoop it up from the corner of my acclimation container and gently place it in the tank without it thrashing around and possibly injuring itself. It will then usually hang out in my hand for a minute while it looks out to see where it wants to go once it leaves my hand. What's funny is that when I first open my hand, the fish usually tries to tuck in tighter to my hand for cover. If you notice in the video, the fish went out the back of my hand, I think I opened up too fast and it was actually backing up into my hand because the cover in front was disappearing.

Good luck! Watch out for that tail spike! :D I like to put tangs and other fish with weapons in a plastic bag then pour out all the water and then slide them out of the bag into the tank.

Well it went great. I'm sure there are plenty that would say you should never touch a fish, but the calming affect it seams to have on them has to be better then the alternative.

Glad to hear it! Agreed, when fish must be handled, a wet hand is the best case scenario. Nets scrub off the slime coat and damage scales, and they can injure themselves thrashing against hard containers.
