My first Clam- Does he look alright?

This is my first attempt at a clam and I'm just hoping he looks like he's alright.

He sits directly below a 150Watt MH light (about 18" of water) I started him on the bottom and can't tell if he needs to be moved up, he's been there for 2 days, what do you think?

I would move him up on the rock work. he looks like he needs more light. he isnt really opened up all the way. and did he move himself on his side?

He's not actually on his side, it's the warping effect of the glass. I'll move him up a bit

yea croceas and maximas are very light dependent and they perfer to be in the rockwork insted of sand

MOve em up. TRust me croceas dont belong in the sand.

what does it mean if the clam lays itself down on its side? but is still open all the way, shows white parts on the mantle as growth, and is still very responsive to motion.

It is on a attached to a small rock that sits in the substrate.

20k 175w Ushio that is 5 months old...this wouldn't have anything to do with it would it? How long would this bulb last?
