My first meeting

Now that I have FINALLY finished my project of building a 265 gallon reef tank into my basement wall, I seem to have some extra free time. I am planning on making the Sept meeting at the zoo. This will be my first time and I am looking forward to meeting more of you. Can anyone tell me though what I will need to bring to this meeting? Thanks Ben

Our meeting in September will be the coral frag workshop. We will be purchasing 10 or so ( Im not sure on the exact number ) colonies of decent sizes. There will be softies, LPS and SPS corals available. You will be able to get a frag of one of each type of coral that we bring in. We will have demonstrations on cutting the corals of each type and species. If you choose to participate in the workshop the cost is going to be 30.00 for members and 50.00 for non-members. So, it is very beneficial to come see me when you come in and sign up for a membership :) Last year we had a very good turn out at the workshop. We expect to see a good attendance again this year. 30 Bucks is a very good price for all that you get to carry home. 10 frags at your LFS would easily run you 150.00 or more. This is a very good event to attend.

We will also have a raffle for other items. Those items are random and include Fish, coral, inverts etc etc.... We also have a members raffle for a single item for those people that have a current membership.

So, onto your question of what to bring. I would bring some cash or a check. Bring a cooler or some sort of container to put 10 + bags in and of course bring yourself and your family members.

See ya there,

Mike C.

Yeah, I have been wanting to go before but didnt want to feel like the odd ball out not knowing anyone. Now I have met a few people here and there so I look forward to the Sept meeting.

There will be no clicks this year. Only SPSers on one side of the room and softy & LPS folks on the other.......

JUST KIDDING

Come on up we will try to make you feel unwelcome, OOPS! JUST KIDDING AGAIN welcome.

Mike, don't forget the "New guy buys" rule... Where we go out for beer after the meeting and the new guys have to each buy a round :D

LOL Thats fine I will just bring my police cruiser with me and wait for you guys outside the bar. I should be able to stock my tank real nice that night!!!!! LOL

I'll have to make sure to get my membership payed for so that I'm not the newest guy and have to buy beer.

Sorry... just reviewed the handbook and it says "New GUYS buy" so there will be multiple rounds involved :D

Just kidding... we are usually in too big of a hurry to get new livestock in the water to go out afterwards.

Hah. And I thought you guys knew what you're doing. Everyone knows corals love Guiness. You just have to serve it warm for them. Polyps extended to the max!
